Are you talking about your opinion of your Mackie's?
The K+H blow the Mackie's away. They are in an entirely different league.

The discussion was if it color or not, im just saying that constructing a COMPLETLY neutral monitor is impossible.
I don´t doubt that the K + H are a damn fine piece of engineer art.

I've used all types of monitors for production, from crappy headphones to the giant adams, and while Adams for me sound the closest to flat that I've used, I really enjoy the mackies. I know those monitors and their specific coloration. It's fine to have perfectly flat monitors, as long as your room is treated. Otherwise you're gonna compensate in some way anyway. So whatever speakers you get, just learn them. learn how everything sounds in it, and remember that your music isn't just gonna automatically sound better on new speakers, you're gonna have to invest a little time and do a few tracks first on them.

Give me one monitor that doesn´t color the sound.

very true i like the yellow color of the krk's not so much the samson resolv they sound too blue to me. Thats how you know you see everyone is too wrapped up in figuring out which monitors sound the purest...there is a way to know for sure... like dynaudios they are black right that means they arent very colored right WRONG but they have the hint of silver which makes the highs much clearer so they sound pretty good. now the mackies are all black and as we all know the color black when not speaking about the spectrum of light consists of all colors combined therefore these are some of the most colored monitors you can buy. white monitors are the least colored you can get and black are the most colored. you NEVER want to buy anything wood grain because you can never get a good mix when everything you are hearing sounds too wooden. geez just think about it people its all common sense. pshhh.
these are the least colored of monitors white = absense of color

I hope you are joking
And the way we are seeing, white is a continuum flat spectrum from 400 nanometers to 800 nm, so it contain every color |

when referring to light but if you mix all solid colors together you get black so if you have white sound waves its extremely colored however the speakers themselves are solid they must be black to represent the coloration of the sound so people dont get confused by the light dark issue this is why dark trance is the best trance still with me haha

Posford (sorry for mentioning him again) once said that one can mix on anything if he's used to it's sound.

from what i hear posford is also an ego maniac but i dont know that from experience so im not saying that he is but if these uprban legends are true then that would explain that statement. but i gotta say its taken me a long time to get used to them but im really liking my m-audio bx-5's lately i know to say that is like blasphemy on this forum but when i hear alot of other monitors that are "better" they sound like a mess to me. Ive just been able to look back at bad mixes from the past and hear now that they sounded awful on the very monitors i blamed for my lack of quality. So im no audio expert but i know that taking the time to really sit and pick apart your mixes is going to be WAY more valuable then spending 1000$ to upgrade and expecting that that will fix your problems. So only upgrade if you can afford it or if your monitors are malfunctioning. just my thoughts im getting a samson rubicon sub to go with them then ill eventually upgrade the tops but keep the old ones to check my mixes on. just my opinion on things.

Well as I said in the beginning of the topic I'm not about getting any new monitors. For me it was interesting to get opinions on the new Mackie products.

mackie monitors are pure crap, they are one of the most not honest monitors i worked with, they are nice to listen music on tham. good speaker to put in your living room, but do yourself a favor, keep tham out of your studio.

I had the first HR624s for one year just before i got the K+H O300s.
Personally i highly recommend them especially against their big brother and especially for the price/performance combination.
I was always very satisfied with them, and my mixes even though they weren't made in a descent treated room, translated always very very well, after i learned them of course.
I even performed most of the tracks from the hip hop album i'm currently producing on a playback music/live vocals set up in a big live stage and my mixes made on the HR624s sounded just perfect.
IMPO, they are a bargain for what they offer in their category. I would definitely buy them again anytime.
A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life. |
