Well, I guess you know what Mackie is; if you ever had a chance to listen to them you won't forget their specific sound. Yesterday I had a chance to listen to the subject. This is the new product of Mackie, renewed HR624. First of all, the room where I heard them was far from excellent. Secondly, I couldn't compare them to any other system to forehead.
However, the first impression was "Wow, what a wonderful sound!" Kindzadza, Beat Hackers, Timelock, Space Buddha and my tracks were sounding so musically, soulful even. Well, Mackie did give their touch to the electronic music. Above all I can mark that their sound is really detailed and transparent. They are loud and they won’t strain ears after hours of work. Round bass (6,7-inch), flat mid’s crystal clear high’s. Perfect. However I could not get away of a feeling that the monitors are too good, something has to be there. I couldn’t identify anything wrong either.
These were the first pair of monitors that came to Ukraine, and the first chance to listen to them. Surely I’ll give them another chance. Here they will cost around $1600.
What do you guys think of them? Maybe anyone has a deeper acquaintance with them?

Agreed. I'm not buying (neither selling) monitors, however those Mackies can come out as a very good option for those money.

they are boomy the bass hasnt the best control and the high freqs are on the bright side.
i never liked them and will never do.
its like they are trying to impress u.
i was mixing on them for 3 months and my mixes dodnt translate very well specialy in the low end.
but all this is for the first mackies so i dont have an opinion on the mk2.. i hope they are better.
my choices in this price range are dynaudio, adam etc.

I bought the big brother when i played in Austin last summer and im damn satisfied with the 824 Mk2. My mixes has gone up a notch with this upgrade tbh.
And with the "welcome to texas"-discount i couldn´t walk away from it 1000$ for a pair.
Maybe they are a little boomy in the bass and i sometimes feel that i have a dip in the midrange. But overall im satisfied with how the mackies sound to my ears.
I listened to Guitarcenters whole aresenal of monitors ( krk, alesis, yamaha, event, genelec) i even compared with the dynaudio BM series, i say the mackies sound "better" to me at least. Its all a matter of taste

with all my respect to leo and i loved his music in the past, if kindzadza was sounding good something is wrong about the monitors. |

save the money and get dynaudio, or save a bit more and get adams --> mackies is coloring the sound and this is very bad for productions, but excellent for just CD listening

the only monitor that is transparent is the one u worked and get to know 100%.
all speakers colour the sound in some point and if its not the monitor it will be the acoustics... or ur not cleaned ears or the fan of ur pc or something that uses the same freq with ur music... pretty much everything.
