hum, the bm6a is alot more expensive in the US than EU.

But, is it worth it to go for the hr824 instead of the hr624?

Spamming even more in this thread.. hehe

So this week I'm buying monitors, I got 4 candidates.

The expensive alternative:
Mackie HR824 vs. Dynaudio BM6A

The cheaper alternative:
Mackie HR624 vs. Dynaudio BM5A

Wich would you choose? and why?

the room is 20m2+, the roof is .. hmm.. not straight

Don't really know which monitors are best for a room your size but i do know that you don't buy monitors everyday so it is better to buy the more expensive one's..

Otherwise at some point down the line u will regret buying the cheaper one's and will have to upgrade anyway..I've heard lots of people recommend the Dynaudio's over the Mackie's..So if i was you i would go for the Bm6a..           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

Ok! No it's not everyday, and it's expensive so I want to buy the right things .. but I'm new to producing, do I really need that little extra that I will get if I go for the expensive ones? Just wanna know if it's worth the money

The best thing would be to take all of them home and listen wich sounds the best, and then decide. But I don't think that's possible...

Ok, so now I'm thinking of this package:
Dynaudio bm6a.
Terratec phase x24 firewire.

wich cables do I need to the monitors?
XLR female to mono-tele?

Firewire cause no space for pci card.
Whats wrong with terratec? other suggestions? I've only heard good things about them so that's why .

Ok, well that was why I asked, I didn't know if it was female or male on the monitor. Ofcourse I understand that I shall get a male if it's female on the monitor.
To me this wasn't that clear:
"Audio input is via a female XLR connector"
Omg!

No, it's a shuttle, can't free up space
But new firewire cards work almost as good as pci?

Hm. what I have read there is much problems with external m-audio cards.

Anyway the terratec card got the highest grade of all the firewire cards tested in a swedish test.
But I don't know since I've not tested it myself.. my budget is 300-400 usd.

Haha.. what makes you think my computer has bad performance? the motherboard is actually faster on many things than the fullsize motherboards within the same category.

Besides the pc, working with firewire and good monitors is not anything you do? just curious, cause I know there are many in this forum using firewire and I don't see why that should be bad?
ofcourse U don't get the same performance with firewire or usb as u get with pci...

What other firewire soundcards were included in this test you mention?

i'm looking to buy a new firewire soundcard for my laptop as well but i was thinking of the Presonus firebox..           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

I was also looking at the firebox, but then I read the test and the terratec card got higher score. And it's cheaper
"
Edirol FA-66 :7
Focusrite Saffire :7
M-Audio Firewire 1814 :8
Presonus Firebox :7
Terratec Phase X24FW :8
"

thoose where the results, I can pm more testresults if you wan't.
Yes nolightatend but that's just theoretical.
Firewire 400 is faster than usb 2.0 for example. (and better in many ways)
But i know pci is faster than firewire, but does soundcards really use all the bandwidth?
My motherboard read 34 mb/s and wrote 28 mb/s on the firewire port. that was with a 7200RPM Maxtor 740X-6L.

But i guess it also depends alot on the soundcard itself not only the interface.
