well for sure the latest core 2 duo cpu, i think its 2.24 ghz, i wouldnt buy much RAM, gettin them piece by piece is better (kingston, 2-4 gb), the graphic card isnt important u dont need it

2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1680 x 1050 pixels
2GB memory
160GB hard drive1
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics with 256MB SDRAM
core two duo means ram has to be upgraded in pairs, and can work out mighty expensive.... these are the highest specs at the mac store online

I Have the same spec as Raoul mentions here with the 5400 drive and it kicks serious ass.
At the moment i'm running around 20 audio tracks, a few softsynths, kontakt 2 and a whole load of comression, eq, reverb and the cpu is hardly batting an eyelid.
I love it! |

those core 2 duo chips are strong

Mike A is right, the Mac Books are almost as good as the MB Pro. i would say get as much ram as possible, that's the most important thing. and run Logic, it's a dream on a fast mac.
but if i might share my opinion, i would say screw the laptop and get the quad xeon mac pro tower like i have
if you wanna see insane audio production power, try running Logic on that thing... bouncing down tracks is a thing of the past for sure! any ways my problem with laptops is just that i feel like even powerful machines don't compare performance wise with towers of around the same CPU power. there's just something sacrificed, i think, when you only have a tiny little laptop fan to cool the thing down. i feel like for trance music, a laptop is better to have for live performance, but for intense multi-track production, i recommend a more powerful tower for around the same price range. |

I Agree the macbook would be powerful enough. But for me the screen is a bit too small, only 13 inches. |

hey there !
nice to hear that a mac book is strong enough for productions ! it´s all about the money here so if so, i will buy mac book !!
I will buy a second screen and set the mac on it no problem yeah..
so , Mac Book, 2gb ram...and may be 2 GHz should be good..!?

I have the mac pro worksation core due 2.66 with 3 gb of ram...
just bought it recently... the power is scary compared to my g4powerbook which is to be fair 4 years old...
being an old laptop the old one could just abt deal witha few rob papen blues, or native instrument - massives... which meant bounce bounce bounce... those days thank god, are over!!
as the dog of tears (interesting name ) mentioned, screw the laptop buy the workstation.. atleast u can upgrade continously... it can be upgraded to 16 gigs of ram, 3 tets of memory (if u have more money than bill gates!!).....

and yes the ram in workstation can be upgraded upto 16gb and hdd upto 1TB internal.
