As for onboard gfx:
I have the Macbook (2 ghz 1 gb ram) which i mainly use for my live-sets - however i also use it for gaming etc.
I also own a PC (Intel duo-core) both of these computers have these new intel internal gfx cards, and i tell you; these are not to be compared with old onboard units, these are serious chips, with high perfomance. In the Macbook you may experience gfx errors in some applications that demand high power performance in 3d textures, after hours of full-throttle (this seems to be a thermal problem). For music/live i would go for the cheap model

Mac OS X is pretty solid, but the limited options in software & hardware is what always bothers me about Mac.
Probably the biggest reason for me is that they are so expensive, and I wouldn't want to gig out with it. It's the same reason my friend doesn't gig his virus TI anymore. The risk of it getting damaged or stolen just ain't worth it.
That being said, in most regards you do get what you pay for with Mac. Since most people are not skiledl enough for laptop upgrades, I think the Pro might be the better option is you plan on holding onto it for awhile.
