i see that today's macs much slower than pc's in "mhz" ,
but for some reason they much faster in real performance
How this can happen ???
it's like soundcards for example: let's take 2 soundcards
like the new M-Audio "Revolution" and Apogee "Trak2" .

now let's take a look at the numbers:
M-Audio: 24-bit/192kHz ! +7.1 surround option .
price is less than $200 .
Apogee : 24-bit/96kHz only , no surrround option.
price is $3500 and more !
the question is: why ppl will pay so much for Apogee ,
when they can buy M-Audio for less price and more
performance ? maybe because Apogee have much better
external design ? because it looks better ?
oh i almost forgot , maybe because Apogee have those
cool built-in preamps ? I don't think so , because there is
MOTU828 card that looks good as Apogee, it has great
preamps and additional analogue 8 ins and outs extra...
And the 828 cost $795 only .

Now let's back to the subject, it was about Mac and Pc .
The speed in Mhz and the numbers doesn't really matters,
there are lots of other things that much more important .
For the last 5 years i can hear lot of ppl say something like
"there is less difference between mac and pc every year"
"pc become more like mac and mac become like pc" .
But i don't think so , i see the difference is still like
10 years ago , things changes, technologys became better
but the difference not became smaller .
Another point is "softwareZ" that so easy to download
for pc , as i can see it's same easy to download for mac ,
it's just u need to download from different places .
And finally the last thing i have to say is about computer
freezes and blue screens : "THERE IS NO COMPUTER
THAT NEVER CRASH" , this thing just not exist .

Sorry C3PO, I still claim that in comparison to three years ago the differences are far smaller and doesnt worth the difference in costs.. Remember, to get top quality Mac u have to pay shitloads of money still, and I prefer Pentium 4, 2.4hz to 700hz G4..
And about the soundcards, it is not exact example, since the difference between Apogee and M-Audio cards is one of non compromise kind, whilst the difference between Apogee and Motu / Pc and Mac is definitely of the compromise kind and it is the skill of the user that counts in the compromise kind even more than the hardware itself...

having macs vs pc wars was REALLY not intended in this thread - so please...
as I remind you, the major reason to move to a mac for me is Logic 6.x - I don't think I would even think about moving if logic wasn't discontinued for pc.

That's the thing Phillip - I believe that eventually there will b logic 6 to PC.. Even tho it's in Apple's hands now.. well PC users are far too big a market to loose.. And since we live in a world where everything is dun has to be counted in green bills, including wars, then I am pretty sure there will b Logic 6 for PC's too

with very little competition on the MAC side, the PC processors (Athlons vs Pentium) are getting faster in less time...

thats mostly true, but i must admit the crash on the mac is much painfull, u stuck finnaly with a BOMB on screen and u  till its restart...
