I'm brand new to the Mac world and I've done a fairly good job of setting up programs from the PC world although some challenges remain.
I am experiencing a lot of crashes when launching Cubase and ANY knowledge will help while I continue combing forum boards and knowledge bases.
System:
MacBook Pro 2.6 GHz 4GB RAM
OSX Leopard 10.5.5
Apogee Duet
Virus TI Snow
Automap Universal (Remote 25SL, Nocturn)
Problem:
Cubase crash upon launch with Virus TI on.
Frequent crashes on loading VSTI's, particularly Native Instruments.
Less plug-ins available than on PC? (No roomworks, etc)
If you have a similar setup or some advice to help - thank you. I suspect that I may have some settings to make seeing as how Apple handles Audio and MIDI preferences differently under the OS. I also suspect the TI audio drivers are confusing Cubase or it is related to the latest TI software update. If i turn the Virus off then launch Cubase it helps but then when turned on it need to load Virus data to the synth each time and this takes a few minutes.
I'm trying to troubleshoot using Reaper but so far the Virus causes a crash every time before the program is finished launching. Other VSTi's do load fine In Reaper.
Thanks for your time.

Do you have the Virus TI plugin wrapped in the Automap Universal Plugin?
If so, remove the TI Snow plugin from the automap list...
Other than that I'm not sure, It works fine with Cubase 4 here, but not on a Mac
Good Luck

On PC I have seen a problem on a few users computers with the latest TI software. If you are too fast at connecting a midi track to the VC plugin after it has opened, it will crash and close Cubase as well.
You have to wait about 5 seconds after the VC has finished loading before doing any routing.
Might not even apply to Mac, but I thought I should mention it.

Both are good suggestions. Cubase.net threads show a lot of crashing concerns with Cubase 4.5.2
One suggestion was to trash the Cubase preferences folder installed on the MAC OS and rebuild preferences from scratch.
Virus is not wrapped in Automap.
@psylevation: yes it appears if you select 'cancel' for the option to assign a midi track automatically then create one manually when the VST has finished loading it helps.
Cheers mates
