Which AU synth offers best quality for making a psytrance bassline ?

Are AU synths better than using Bassnote samples ?

I use trilian for all basslines on mac. no eq, no comp, no dist, just trillian and good tweaking.

au or vst doesn't matter           Most of my music for you to download at:

esm, es1, es2 and the analog sampler instruments in EXS 24.
I used Trillian in some tunes for the 3rd album and still use it in the first 4th album tunes. I don't distort it but I do EQ and compress the patches I make, in order to get the sounds I want. Although it does need less EQing and compressing than esm and es1.

Peace out.

I use Ableton. No logic.           "Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth."

speaking about trilian but im a pc user.
best bass synth i used by far.. really not much to EQ or compress, alot of onboard effects wich are cool (even EQs and comps), good filters, much much flexibility in terms of envelope shapes or waveforms perhaps.. and overall just a good sound try it!!!!

dunno wtf they did to some samples ,some dry oscillator would have been a good addition, like a dry juno 106 and mini moog saw , have been disapointed for that.
they should really make a sampler with these filters and envelops it would be awesome

I really can't get a phat enough bass sound with operator. I tried the COSM tutorial but somehow never got it to sound right.

Is it possible to use operator for a good bass sound ?

I've been getting great bass results out of Operator lately...in fact the more I work with Operator the more I love it for all sorts of stuff.

I do need to EQ it quite a bit though to get what I'm after, and/or also make heavy use of the tool to draw in (or in most cases, remove) partial harmonics, as well as distortion/compression

guys who use Trillian - which samples do you use out of the library to build your patch on?            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

However much i tweak on operator i don't get a decent bass. Does anyone have any patches ?           "Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth."

Man, I just got Trillian and....yeah, pretty much a billion times easier to get a phat sound out of any of the various perfectly sampled bass synths than anything I got with Operator.

The minimoog, sh-101 and ms-20 are the ones I have used so far and I liked the results.
The thing is to turn off all the effects in the rack and sort out the timbral parameter so that you get a nice stable note at each trigger.

peace.

I just used the TB303 saw for my latest tune...it replaced my operator patch and I absolutely love the timbre of it, it resonates so sweetly

Oh - trillian has a massive ammt of filters. Do you use the in-house filters or do you go to your own third party/daw filter? which trillian filters do you use?
