they say it s server i m wondering if it can be used as a daw ,run logic and everyhting like a usual mac ? for 999 euro i think it s good price for something 2 times more powerfull than some not so old macpro and macbook pro and in a so tiny box !

i wonder if it run hot and i guess it may be noisy

maybe it can be used with a other mac computer as a logic node? (dunno how that stuff work but if it could be possible to use the mini power added to a macbook pro that would be even more awesome)

it even have firewire 800 and audio i/o ! if it s silent it look like it couldbe a great daw.

i just checked on gearslutz the benchmark thread and the i5 mini at 799 euro run around the same amount of tracks on logic than my mpb i7 2010 (dual corp)
damn the new i7 mbp are beasts !

I ordered the Mac Mini Server 3 days ago..., with its normal config. Ill be moving to Logic again after some years working only with Cubase.

After some deep Internet Research i found many positive reviews regarding the Mac mini as a DAW... Actaully, why not. Its seems like a powerfull device.

Ill let u know once ill test it with some sessions.

It will be Connected Via Toslink to my Lavry DAC 10 and than out to a Pair of Focals Twin 6.

would not be suprised if what is inside the box is same or simlar to what is in the macbook pro, might get a bit noisy on heavy project

2 things I will consider limitations: number of USB ports and adding hard drives in the future.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

i think you can use 2 drives in it, not sure it by default on the mini server but yeah it might be a problem for some that use more . usb port is definelty a limitation like on the macbook but one could use a usb powered hub.

what i m wondering is about thunderbolt, it can run firewire and usb ? it can also be used to connect a external screen if i m right..

it could be a nice portable daw when you go make music at other studio

Uptil a few months ago, I was using core2duo mac mini running logic 9 without any major problems so there is no question the new quad core i7 will run very well. Go for it!           StarLab - Label DJ/Artist for Digital Om Productions
