Very interesting release u find here, Exogenic is already one of my fav. labels in the psy genre now, specially conserning breaks/ambient, they always shows us unexpected music and Mac Mavis music was totally unexpected to me specially in this genre.
It took me a few listenings to really understand the beauty inside this, since its very simple structure music. But then as our glorious (rip) Cosma used to show us...simplicity is the key. Mac Mavis ambient music is almost entirely based on textures and atmoshperes with very chilled and simple percussive elements here and there...his idea is for sure to make this to become a cd to make u "fly in space". I love also the big escandinavian influence u can check here..sometimes its almost middle ages sound, something about fantasy, about castles and princess, about escandinavian mithology.....reminds me when I used to lsten atmospheric black metal like Burzum...
Anyway, I enjoy Mac Mavis music a lot, i like almost all tracks, maybe its not as complex and technical as many like but it doesnt need to be, so everything has a good moment to be played and this cd for sure has its times..
