Anyone have any good recomendations for a mac laptop soundcard? Its for a G4 OSX, needs to have a midiport, minimal audio in/outs, good quality, preferably small and cheap. Are PCMCIA or firewire better? Any help much appreciated! |

Hi , i use U24 (2 in 2 out analog /digital /optical )
good card , low cost
OSX does'nt need a driver (core audio), worx good with SX /Reason /etc (beta driver )

It does look good Tomek, but wont work under OS X so not future proof, and USB I heard has latency prolems. I'm rethinking my setup and will probably go for a desktop so I can fit in a Yamaha DS2496 mix card. Its like an O2R console in your computer!
Let me know how it goes...and thank you for epileptik denz

I've got a different spin on this. Say someone wants to do a very progressive live act, alone. How would that be done best - with a desktop and a control keyboard?

Well if you are alone I personally would recommend Ableton Live software with a knob midi controller, laptop and maybe a soundcard with multiple outputs. |

anyhow,
better soundcards for laptops are firewire and not usb....
for the big computers - pci or firewire.
