Can anyone point me to some decent 3rd party software?
Something that will perhaps offer disc defrag and possibly a registry cleaner (if this is possible with Macs?)

LS.: Mac FS is self-defragmenting and as Greententacle points out, there is no registry.
Those tools do not exist because they are not needed.

you can repair permissions in programms..>utility---> disk utility --- its the programm where you delete harddisks and you can do some repairs there |
