Hi,
I have a serious problem. The soundcard works fine for a moment (or a longer moment), but at some point the leds starts blinking and it does'nt provide any sound anymore. At first the blue led starts blinking and after that every fucking led is blinking.
I've reinstalled drivers, reinstalled windows, reinstalled firewire chip drivers, i drank a beer, but it's still not working. |

is it connected using the 6 pin connector or the 4 pin connector?
Have you tried plugging something else that's firewire into your firewire port?
The audiophile for pc has some issues with power if you are on a laptop. Usually on a desktop theres not that big of an issue, but sometimes it likes to act funny... So what I would suggest is plug in the power cord to the audiophile if are on a desktop with a 6 pin connection. If you are on a laptop with a 4 pin connection, I would recommend getting a PCI-MCIA firewire card that has the 6 pin bus on it... I had a lot less issues with the card using that, but to be honest, I'm glad that sound card got stolen from me... It was more of a pain in the ass than it was worth.

Yes, i have a laptop and i think this its a 6-pin cable. (It has 6 of those golden things?) I only got one cable on the box and im using it.
But it's funny cuz this soundcard has been working fine since last summer until now.
So i guess i should buy a 4-pin cable then.
This is the kind of cable i have http://www.divorceinfo.com/images/firewire%20pics%20003.jpg
ps. i don't have any other firewire devices to connect

i have to add that before i get my terratec phase x24 fw ive tested a friends m-audio firewire 410 on 2 laptops and 1 desktop.
tha damn think had a mind of its own... crashing, freezing and with a noisy output.
im making studio pcs setup for audio and m-audio is the only brand i dont sell with the pcs.
terratec on the other hand from the 1st day works great not even 1 crash or anything i recommend them for sure and also the presonus ones also very stable and good quality for the money!

Sometimes with that 4-pin firewire connector if you just move it a bit, it looses its connection.
I have a PreSonus Firebox, and and work just great. But sometimes if I just move the cable a little, it cuts off... I think the best solution is to get a better firewire connector for your computer..
But if you aren't moving the wire and it turns off, some hardware equipment must be busted...

I'm afraid that it doesn't matter wether you got a 4 or 6 pin cable, bus powered or not... I got a m-audio firewire and it never worked and always lost power and started blinking after 20 mins. I searched several forums and all I found was people with the same problem but without solutions. tried it on dsktops/laptop/sp1/sp2... nothing worked.

After all these painful hours it seems that a "Windows Genuine Advantage" -plugin fixed this problem.

If you have tried this fix without success, I would advise to try installing again after removing the firewire device from the system and remember to disable any anti-virus/firewall program before installing any software/hardware." -Audioforums.com

Hi,
Umm. This problem still exists.
It seems, that the device is working properly when my computer is not connected to the Internet. When my computer is online the problem appears again after a few minutes.
Any ideas what's causing this? |

Disable all power saving features and upgrade to the latest drivers.
I have the exact same soundcard and for me it only bugs when i have some powersaving features enabled (i.e. it starts blinking because the firewire is going in sleeping mode and it doesn't wake up properly again, it's a windows bug and not a soundcard bug).
