This interface looks very nice. It has 4 audio ins/outs and a midi i/o all connected through usb @ 24/96 quality. you can use it on a laptop. what i'm wondering is if you need a 24 bit sound card to actually record & play @ 24 bit.

Yes you would need a 24bit soundcard to do that!
why do you think they call it 24bit soundcards? :)
