i'm assumin you tried re-intalling the drivers? come to think of it, mine also presented problems first time i installed the drivers. especially those low pitched glithes. I unplugged, re-installed everything again and it came to life as it should have.
In my system it also presents an IRC conflict with the network card, but it still runs (sound-wise), network wise, i'm not too sure, but i'm not using that one to connect to the internet...
