This 12" isn't psytrance (proghouse), but I have seen it in stock on psyshop.com, so I thought it might be useful to review here.
Luke Chable : Sealers Cove
(Zero Tolerance)
1. Sealers Cove (Original Mix)
2. Sealers Cove (Cyberfunk Mix)
Yet another excellent deep progressive house release from the consistent Australian label Zero Tolerance. This one is brought by the up & coming youngster Luke Chable (Dark Alley, Quest, etc, etc). The original mix is the winner on this one - it begins with a simple, slow, steady groove. Rhythms, atmospheres, pads, and additional percussion are gradually added on one by one over the next 6 minutes until the track reaches a moody peak and throws you into a well-placed breakdown. Smoothly, you are brought out of it and thrown back into the groove, before being let slowly down to a funky minimalism to end the track. Damn smooth.
The b-side is a breakbeat rendition. It slowly builds in the manner of the original mix - the rhythms and atmospheres are still there - just with a bit of dirty funk. A simple synth brings you gently to the breakdown, followed by a crunchy, bass-laden groove. The last few minutes of the track are dominated by a simple synth reminiscent of old-skool rave music. A bit of a let down in the end, unfortunately. Overall a good mix of this track - the first half says enough to be used on its own.
For this 12", both tracks could be readily used to set the dancefloor into a steady dark groove...the only minor blip is the last part of the remix. 8/10
