Low Level in DVD Films?

Am i the only one who finds the DVD movies come with very low audio level? I always thought that to achieve high bit resolution tha audio should be sampled with as highest audio level as possible (10dB less than the Clip area). All the times when i sample msomething from the movies i find myself amplifying it later in Sound Forge.
Any body knows what's the reason for the levels?           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Maybe your input recording level is low ?           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Nope, all the parameters are on the max level.
I record from DVD Rom with Audiophile 2496 Sound Card

Maybe it's your DVD rom that is giving a weak signal ?           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Doubt it, the DVDRom content is decoded digitally which means that the content is encoded with low volume, and that's the way it was concieved in the first place.

Hey Pavel, how ya doin dude

Thats strange, I never had that problem, I've recorded loads of dvd sounds already...also using the audiophile 2496...

How r u recording? (what r u using to record?)

I normally just watch the movie with soundforge recording on the background, and later when i have the time, i take the interesting parts from the audio file...never had any similar problem... r u using soundforge to record? (check the recording options in control panel...make sure your soundcard is selected for recording...)

First of all, recording should be done just below the clip area - not 10db below.

Second of all - if it's a DVD rom, read this:

when i record the audio from dvd directly without ripping.. i get low volume too.. dunno why..
it's weird, but the audio output is low.. when i see them i have to pull up the volume in my amp..
cant understand the problem.. since winamp (eg) has great output, like almost any other audio prog..
only the videos get low audio.. :|

I have the same problem with the Audiophile 2496. Have never been able to figure it out...

The vocal volume from the DVD recording into Soundforge is always very very low...
