Hi, currently I work on a M-Audio Firewire Audiophile... i've the idea of replacing it for something better with lower latency and overall better quality than M-Audio.

What I'm most interested is in being able to work with less latency because actually I have to set my sample buffer to 4096(the max value) when working on medium to long projects or it will crackle.

I have a more or less decent machine Core2Duo 4gb RAM... i also own a couple of hardware synths which i record into DAW so decent recording features are also required.

My main choice is the Motu Ultralite, i have around $800 USD to spend... any ideas are welcome, please help me find the best choice.

Thanks

RME, you are for mexico right? In the store top music in DF there are selling the Fireceface 400 and the USB version for 13,000 (very good price if you consider the USD price).

Also look for the Babyface if you can order online $750 (i will buy one soon so I will let you know).

I have read a lot that MOTU is not so stable with PC and a lot of problems with the USB. But fi you are on MAC it will be good.

RME or Metric halo ,no experience with motu but it s suposed to be stable on mac, have no idea about latency ,check gearslutz i guess you can find the answer there.

i didn t know man but i just read recently on metric halo site logic is the only daw the buffer size dont affect cpu load or just a little do you have this problem on logic?

if possible go for RME.
stay away from motu if on a pc.
if on a budget check presonus or focusrite ( although not very latency friendly )           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

Hmmm... seems it should be RME then. I do want low latency since i feel it makes me struggle with big projects even when rendering and bouncing most of my tracks.

Will check on prices maybe save a lil more...

Thanks

THe Babyface arrived to Mexico with a price tag $8,900 pesos at top music store.          "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."
