well i'll upload some of my shit sometime and you guys can tell me how bad the dynamics are destroyed and how the phase is out of wack etc etc.

I have to admit though, its not always 16 compressors, its usually like this...in Fl studio 5 or Cubase SX3 I pile on about 8 compressors [like i said tiny amounts], then i export all the .wav track patterns separety to wavelab, so after more processing in wavelab, the tracks are again (!) exported into samplitude for the final mixdown.

I say fuck tha norm I'm insane!

ps;; actually DON'T do what I do. Why? Because I have created totally unrealistic expectations of sound-quality and therefore hardly ever finish a track anymore...so yeah it has its drawbacks for sure.

why not just use an expander, it will save you the trouble of using 8 compressors 4 sure

good sounding low end sound good compressed or not , i mean it s not a big factor when you take care of the levels and the bassline patch

Hi guys,

Thanks for the inspiration actually...I was thinking perhaps.. I actually have been useing unnecessary processsing-overkill [to a certain extent]. I will experiment with less again I think! haha I'm not sure I can live with less EQ tho...hmmm more experimenting needed.

if it works for you ,don t stop hehe ,lately i use the tal elektro and even wihtout eq and comp it sound good enought , choosing note with good attack (osc don t retriger on each notes) and then shaping the sound with fades in audio chanel + adjusting levels of notes remove the need of using comps but i still use one but not for controling or shaping the sound just to make things loud and more big.

i use [sometimes] up to 16 compressors on my kick and 8 [or more sometimes] on the bassline. I use send level and mix the appropriate amount. Usually every compressor is no more than 1 to 5% (!) send level .., and also, every digital and analog compressor i have i put in different release/attack settings depending on what sound I'm after...

For me...I run about 10-20 waves Q10-EQ's, on almost in every track in any song i make. I can't seem to get a good sound without doing mega pseudo-stereo-eq tricks, on each track as well. The Q settings always vary with each sound.
I always seem to cut out -30hz in every track [in the mixing process.] There was one time I didn't and then I learned that its really the only way to fly, Q settings depend on what sounds good, and what sounds like shit. Sometimes my cpu is maxed out on only one track of audio lolz [main DAW is an Athlon 64 6600].

haha l8r

please post your track demo so we can listen

you write down every single thing that i think is totaly useless , wonder how it sounds tho.

i probably need maximum 2 eqs on channel , and never more then 2 compressors (even thats abit harsh)

how is the phase issue on your bass using so many inputs for the send channel?

Here is a sample of what kind of beats I make. Its short, just an example.

peace!

@Elad there may be some phase issues ...but i really don't notice if there is, even whe i use like 12 fucking sends...lol

so far there is...

[kick]- 5 comps, 9 eqs,
[bass]-8 comps, 4 eqs

[other]-various other stuff like ie; convolution spaces...[dry/wet sends of 0.5%]

[master] 4 diff comps each with diff settings each one @15% send level [i don't belive in full compression usually].
plus an eq filtering out -18db @ 16hz @ a Q of 7.0 band-pass on every track as well...

-plus all digital multiband mastering [by me lol]

Well there is hardly any low end at all, in my opinion. but I like the weirdness of it. stop putting so much shit on your sounds, it's ruining them.

i like your sounds dude, but that really is overkill. i'll sometimes use 2 or 3 compressors with lower settings then just the one hitting something really hard, but 8-10? the kick for example is nothing amazing, dunno why you couldn't just find a sample that sounds like that instead of using 9 eqs on it.

i don't really use compression on kick much anyway, prefer to use transient designers

as for low freqs, i'm working on a track atm where i'm trying to get some pretty fat bass going. boosting the lower frequencies monstrously with EQ first then slamming down on it with a really hard compressor, sample is here:
