make a good tune and a pretty mix. club/party sound systems will make *anything* loud, I guarantee it. please. stop with the loudness/maximising/mastering obsession. it's really not necessary. thanks

You just stated the goal of the whole "loudness war". Why does it matter if it's loud relative to other music?           You believe in the users?

Just cause u cant master the track on the dj mixer, u have gain and eq-ues but it sounds terrible if u have to gain the track to much and still when u gain it it lacks bass so u gotta pump that up as well..
That doesnt go for home listening music but also doesnt mean that u cant make one club compatible version and one home listening version with full dynamic range..
Best way of checking your mastering is to mix few tracks u like and than yours after them, if it sounds and look good in the mix that means its mixed/mastered well..           http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions

Thing is, your music will not get played over the best rigs. Letting frequency response aside, a lot of parties simply drive the amps all the way.
People go for loud masters knowing that a lot of rigs are less than ideal.
It makes no sense if you consider there is also another limiter protecting the rig, but it all depends a lot on the people that set up the rig as well as the DJ who is redlining the mixer to save his/her life.
So all in all, just worry about getting the mix right. After that you've done your part.
Its up to the label to find someone good to master it (or request someone you know is good at it), the DJ and the techie who sets up the rig, which are all variables that are out of your control.

me i dont care much if it s loud as long as it s well produced ,when i listen on my monitors i still like 10x time a track that sound good and loud (even if it distort a bit ) that a shity one at - 12 rms (sometimes it sound even more flat ).in psytrance lot of artist dont need to go loud to ruin their sounds ( lot of the dark for exemple ,still some good producers in that style offcourse )

You never hear people mention spacial depth when it comes to loudness and dynamics.

One day everyone will see the light.
