batery is not for loops is for samples only
if you want to open loops you have to use a vsts that enables you to change the bpm of the loop so it gets syncronized with the bpm of the track. you can use reason dr rex or you can use stylux rmx or any other vst that enable you to change the bpm of the loop manualy or automaticly

or you can create your own drum loops with batery, export them to .wav. then open them in recycle and convert them to .rex. then you can open you drumloops in dr rex and aply them to any track with any bpm

I would suggest using Phatmatik Pro for loop slicing. There is a way to get the loops to match up using battery or Exs 24, but it requires that you adjust the pitch of the loop till it matches your host tempo. It's a royal pain, but it can be done....

Another way to get your loops to match tempo is to import the audio file into an audio channel. What you need to do next is set up a loop marker around the drumloop that you are using and press T. This will convert the tempo of your song to the tempo of the drum loop. Next, use the strip silence function in the audio window. You will probably have to work with strip silence to get the desired cuts that you want. From there, change the tempo of the song back to what you wanted it to be at and voila!!! *NOTE* This doesn't work all the time, but if you don't have recycle or phatmatik it will work in a pinch...

Of course, if you have ableton live, you can just bypass all of those steps and use ableton live to convert your drum loops to the bpm that you want....

I agree, Phatmatik is the way to go if you're using Logic. It's easy to use once you glance over the manual.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604
