Hello, I'm looking to buy a hardware synth and I was wondering if I could get some opinions on selections. I'm also looking for something to bounce my tracks into a warm analog signal. Any suggestions?

I am not an expert. I want to get one myself. A few people, one very highly regarding has suggested I look for a Studer.

How much you go to spend on a synth?

if you want the regular stuff in the best of the best quality, than get a virus ti, if you have a good synthesis knowledge and you are not lazy, than a nord modular is you synth, and if you want the unique stuff and not the regular synthesis, than a roland v-synth xt let you do lots of crazy stuff with its vocoder and sampler... and if you into analog ask someone else i never had one my favourite synth is the xt but i use the virus much more...

and about that analog summing, look at this thing

Flac, there are so many you should try. Nothing wrong with going to a place that sells synthesizers and ask them if you could try them out. They are used to it.

Having that said it would help to know what your budget is.           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Thanks for your response. Yeah, I think I want the virus, but my best friend is getting it, and I kinda think it would be stupid to buy the same thing as him. If I get something different, we can swap.

if your friend is getting a virus you can go for a Waldorf Q, or a microQ and a Nord as well(both) or check for an MS2000 instead of Nord or maybe a Juno for its amazing pads, i would go for a waldorf machine for sure and imho a Nord lead is a "must have" for trance and a great compliment for the Virus

@assaf
man i really doubt if theres any trance producer that has that thing in his studio .. this is toooo much stay digital and make that warm

Shit! I don't have any nord..Guess I won't be making trance then.

Seriously, that's a total BS statement.

yeah nords sound is total bullshit and doesnt fit, youre right, but the guy is making fucking trance
and if he was going to play the clarinets i would suggest to buy a korg PA 500 with onboard speakers on a lots of belly dancing rythms on ..

besides fun Nord is a real must have for whoever love sound synthesis, its easy,, totally angry sounding and fits super great in trance and with the virus, plus you can buy it any time if you find a used for 300-400 euros instead of paying thousands,, thats a fact ...

these things make it to my ears and eyes a real must have for electronic music, if you dont mind.. so..

buy yourself one too, the guy asked what synth to buy, not what you use

Well mate.. sure a nord or virus is a good buy I suppose.

But if you want originality don't expect it from a virus or a nord. It's a matter of opinion and mine is that sounding like others is boring and obsolete.

There is NO synt that is a must have. Never was never will be. Not even the minimoog at it's peak.

My problem with it is that they are to popular. I don't like popular synts unless old ones which decline in numbers every day (a good thing).

Let's all get the same synts and see how interesting the music will be after that!

I am going to be brash here.

Fuck what everyone else is using for Psy. Don't follow the herd. We don't need any mote psy made with the usual suspects. The last year was musically very dull for psy. If everyone keeps getting the same synths it won't improve anytime soon.

Sorry if this upsets anyone, but I just had to get it off my chest.

d2, I really enjoy how you think. In fact, theres a few things you have said on these forums that really helped me out. I take your comments as good opinions. I think you have a solid viewpoint on things. Very logical.
