Looking for standard home speakers + amp/recievers

Not something for the music creation, just for movies and listening to music.
I have 500$ budget to buy pair of speakers and amp (or reciever).
What brand names should i check?
What Web sources can i use?
And are there any recommended shops in Israel in the center area. I am looking for serious shops where i won't be offered digital speakers and recievers with 0~1Mhz frequency responce.

i have a wonderful adcom pre-amp and receiver. simple stereo sound but wonderful on th ears. you looking for 5.1 sound or just a good stereo setup?
