I am moving to Japan in December and am looking for some promoters to send demo CDs to. I'll be living in Ogaki.

Thank you!

What kind of style do you have? what label are you with? this would kind of help in answering your questions.
Good luck, if you need help in japan contact me anytime.

I live in Atlanta where there is almost no psy, so I am unaffiliated. I spin both psy and chillout. When I spin chillout I think it is very important to make a smooth mix-- Too many DJs just find two songs in comparable keys and let them trainwreck into each other. IMO that's not mixing. I did a long mix a while back that started Chill/freestyle, then went progressive and then moved into the fuller on stuff. I was in the mood to play a lot of old favorites, so not a lot of newer tracks in the mix. The tracklist was something along the lines of this:

Shulman-Small Grey Creatures
Shpongle-Shpongle Spores
Space Drifters-Reverse (Vocal edit)
Pyite-Didgeridoo
Shpongle-Divine Moments of Truth
Entheogenic-Level One
Infected Mushroom-Drop Out
Ott-Billy the Kid Strikes Back
Jadis-Passage Du LaLange (sp?)
Triponas-Firebird
Logic Bomb-Normalised
Alien Project vs. Astrix-Crystal Skulls (long version)
Pink Floyd-One of these days (Haldolium rmx)
Infected Mushroom-Disco Mushroom
Antix-Blood
Vibrasphere-Purple Floating (Cosma rmx)
Reefer Decree-Metal Spring
Vibrasphere-Newport
Fabel-The Bear
Antix-Slave to Dose
Shaman-Suphah Oupa
Maskalin-Music
Reefer Decree-Curved Air (Fabel rmx)
Tegma-Werewolf
Hallucinogen-Trancespotter
The Antidote-Have a Drink
Logic Bomb-Unlimited
Talamasca-Telepathic Atmospheres rmx
Infected Mushroom-Deeply Disturbed
Maskalin-Loud and Proud

If you'd like a copy I'll send you one-- Its in mp3 format though. If youd like a cd in regular format I can send one of those instead.

Peace

well the best advice i can give you seeing from your list i cannot judge which organization is good for you. The best is to check out a lot of parties over here, and send your demo tapes to each organizer.
But to tell you the truth, your chances are slim.
There are so many dj`s in japan, hungry for gigs. but the only dj`s getting gigs are the ones that are represenatives of a label or organization.
good luck though.

your chances being slim or not is entirely up to you and how much intention you have. Do not be discouraged, but like Hikari said you should be aware that it is not that easy. But with the right intentions, you can do anything you want. I came here about eight months ago with aspirations of playing at parties where great people gather(how huge the party is was not a concern of mine-as long as the vibe was great), and I am really happy with where I am right now.

My advice to you is-
Study Japanese. Study it hard. The more you can speak the more people you will meet, and more connections you will make.
also, play as often as you possibly can, regardless of how small the party is or when it is. never pass up an opportunity to play, because you don't know what connection you may have missed that night. Until you have all the necessary connections, play every night if you can at any possible place that will allow you to play. This means you will misss lots of sleep and sometimes have to work a full day exhausted afterward, but in the end it will all be worth it.
And finally, (and most importantly) spread your good vibes!! You will naturally attract to others with similar outlooks on life, and with your intentions you will do everything you dream of.
Best of luck! And give me a pm when you get here, we will hang out and I can introduce you to my friends. See you soon! Tokyo is a blast!!!

Love and Light,

My major was Japanese language and literature, so I think I'll do okay with the speaking part : )

I'll definitely hit you up when I get there.

Peace
