You can find nice samples on it but many times the samples have low quality, you'll just have to pick... |

it has always been my view that the electronic musician has two jobs. 1. is the composition of the music and 2. is the design of all the sound to be used in the composition.
sure i'm not against samples i use them when i find one thats really cool that i can't replicate but still that wont get you to the point where you can replicate it or do something similar with advanced synthesis. so i suggest always start with init patch and use as many oscillators and layers as you have to to create a sound scape to your liking.

seriously. when I first started I was manic to find sample packs of all those great noises I heard in all the tracks I've listened to over the years.
My sample library is now like..6 gigs large? pretty small by a lot of producers standards but guess what? I haven't used any of them in months. It's just so much more of a learning experience to make the shit yourself, as opposed to copy-pasting in something that you downloaded...
plus then afterwards you have some killer presets for later so when you're on a future track you can just dial it in, much more creative and unique than scrolling through your sample library

Alternatively, I highly suggest the Spectrasonics line of instruments. Stylus RMX and Omnisphere are far and away the instruments I use the most in my tracks....and trilogy/trillian are used by a lot of artists for their bass as well (though I prefer Sylenth1, GREAT for bass!)
Omnisphere has a 50 gig sample library of all sorts of crazy shit recorded by pros + a great synth as well.
