so...
i have got a bunch of new tracks, been working my ass off this summer with lots of analog and retro digital hardware getting very serious with the music, been keeping the tracks quiet no net almost no one heard them yet.
i am looking for a label to release these in, and maybe find a label "home" once and for all. do these things still even exist? labels that do more for you other than upload your music to beatport?
the music style is raw oldschool meets high tech digital, lots and lots of layers and hand crafted glitches, unique vibes and not really label or sub genre defined.
anything anyone?

hey dude
glad to hear you´ve been buisy, working on some new stuff!
but imo, it´s hard to say without having a listen to it. each one differes in his/her perception of what the described music could be. most labels only support their very own style they represent, thus you will definitely be better uploading let´s say 1.30min of each track as a stream. it will be much more easy to tell you someone fitting the style.
theres a lot comin to my mind for experimental stuff not fitting into most genre or fusion stuff like you mentioned.
maybe somehow more important..... should it be free or do you want it to be released physical, comercial whatever?
at the end.... you stil lwanted to leave me a shout for the remix. sure i send you, just leave me a mail to send to
looking forward to it, keep in touch: stephan

they exist but it take a while to get on a label like that.
starting off, you have to send your music to labels that fit the profile of the sound you produce.
it would help heaps to have a soundcloud account with clips of the music you speak about.
Peace out.

If you're talking Modern Knight style, which i cross my figners that you are; I kinda feel that my own work has a similar feel, at least, I go for teh analog-retro but powerful approach (Mod Knight was a major inspiration to me, to really just throw the 'darkpsy' i was trying to sound like to the wind and go with what my heart says, and my heart says it likes to rock out on the Mono/Poly at 152 bpm to that Rolandian rhythm section while arpeggiated colorful midrange elements dance together fervently)...
What Im trying to say is Im in the same boat trying to find what label would be most parallel to my sound; Cinder suggested Yves D-A-R-K and Endless Euforia/dNi's Ultravision. Still havent heard from either but it was a few months ago and my material has improved (I say optimistically but without conviction) since...
I would say that you can't go wrong with either of those guys, Yves is a good dude who let me download replacements for some releases i bought that didn't make it completely, which is more than i ever could say for psyshop . (beatspace tho, he gave me highko-noise bros just because he took a bit longer, so he's cool too) EE/dNi's music definitley has the fervently-dancing-colors that I think sound similar enough to play alongside Modern Knight style Faxi, in either incarnation and some of his collab tracks from the Ekto vault are just phenometeoricalidocious.
If Faxi and I are talking of the same style, here's a good example @Disco

@Mandari -
i very much love doing free releases and to be honest i would be in many ways quite happy to self-release all my music, the main reason i have been thinking to get on a proper label is the exposure and development i am hoping this can bring. this is why i ask if it is even relevant in today's music biz to expect this from a label.
i would love to remix your tune, just swamped with other tunes at the moment gimme some time i am up for it for sure!
@disco
most of the stuff you guys are suggesting i am of course doing and have been doing for some years.
some of the music is online at a private internet location and of course i send links to relevant people.
@mud
in 2005 i did an EP for dark recs, since then my style has gone farther from dark (or maybe dark has gone farther from me i.e. becoming 190bpm)... it is kinda like modern knight as far as style (maybe a bit more driving/uplifting) but frankly, i am in many ways ashamed of that album. it came at a time in my life where everything was a mess, was quickly put together - in some ways just to prove a point to myself, there is too much filler, too many unfinished ideas and underpolished tunes. i promised myself the next one i will be honest with myself and the listener

hey man , have you think to promote it by yourself, might cost a bit but it might worth it! i m not sure but i think 3/4 of the psytrance labels won t give you any exposure as they don t have much cell. |

this is what i have been doing with most of my music, i am a bit tired of wearing both hats so to speak, and the results could be better i think with some serious people backing you up.

Well if you wanna get gigs you have to wear both hats these days.
Getting on a big label helped us a lot (basically landed the big festival gig this summer at Sol Fest), but we did get booked for the Swiss Earthdance festival, Germany and Holland when we were on Ektoplazm.
I can't recommend Ektoplazm highly enough, especially if you want to reach a big audience, quickly.
Peace out.

see, that's the whole issue. how else do you help promote your artists other than uploading it to digital sites, because that i can do by myself?
