If your a logic user, try the logic plugin ESM mono synth or ES2. I have had a chance to speak with both Ace Ventura and Liquid soul on their recent tours to India and they both use these plugins a lot in their productions. Infact, I had never even thought of using ESM until then.
Im no expert but Ive had some good results with layering bass sounds and adding some reverb to create some warmth and bounce.
This may be of help since you are into progressive like me. A very good tutorial on creating a progressive bassline.
