Perhaps my knowledge of properly using flangers is getting me here but I've not got very good results with what I've tried so far. I've used Ableton's Flanger as well as Uhbik-F.
I'm looking for something to get close to really long, older trance style flanger effects. Very whooshy sounding.
Check out the first minute of this song for an idea:
Thanks for any advice.

I love flanger, phaser and chorus. Used Logic's a lot and MetaFlanger from Waves which is very programmable. But as I said, I love flangers so I went analog in order to get that deep rich sound.
I use the Moog Cluster Flux (the one of the right).
Examples of the clip below, I have the spots marked so you know what you are listening to.

I didn't understand the question, is it worth getting Metaflanger?
Or is it worth getting the Moog MF-108?

It is very expensive, I don't see a reason anyone would spend almost 600€ for a Flanger/Chorus, unless they were mad about that sound so much to get an analog BBD based unit.
Have to say though that the sound is the most liquid sounding flanger and thick chorus I've ever heard and as a bonus, the overdrive from the MF-108 is brilliant.
If you don't love flangers and chorus so much, its not worth it. For me it totally is.

yes expensive but i need good fx now that i have bought a synth , using plugs at the end of the analog chain it color the sound in a way i don t like .. have to try more modulation plugs.. or better get the real deal and don't look back
if they offer a mod to get a cv out for the lfo it could make it worth it even more, i have read they are thinking to make it.
i m thinking to get the mxr phase 100 (dunno if this one work well at synth level )or small stone phaser too

I know what you mean.
I haven't used the MXR stuff but I've only heard really good things about them.
Apparently this is one of the best flangers ever made, ever.

It achieves the stereo image by basically phase reversing one output. Great for having the sound coming at you from outside the speakers, but I tend to record parts through it twice to get the true stereo. Its MIDI so the LFO syncs to Logic just fine.
Its also fun recording the same part through it without syncing the LFO and getting different delay times on each side. Madness!
