Hey everybody..so I'm putting out a call of arms to the community here to see if we can keep this release in America completely. There will be a couple hundred cd's printed of this release. Also this release needs to be hosted online so it can be purchased and downloaded...DOES ANYBODY have space on a server to do such?
It would be nice to get this release out in 2 weeks instead of 8 weeks, when it will be up online in the shops...
Anybody?

I have some web space that I would be happy to donate to the cause. However, it doesn't have any real "security" going on. In other words, anything I host on there can be publicly accessed; so I don't know how you would handle charging people.

emailed a friend who has an unlimited hosting acct w/ godaddy (unlimited space, bandwidth, domains). unsure of e-commerce options, but I'll put you guys in touch. is your email in your profile still accurate, cinder?

i would recommend bandcamp.com
it is free to set up an album, they take no % of any of the sales, so the only people making money are paypal, but if you move to their micro payment system, they take 5% + 5c - ie for a $10 album, you get $9.45
bandcamp allows people to download in most formats, including flac, but not wav or aif

I just got a job a few months ago with (mt) Media Temple. I wouldn't mind hosting the site on the free gear they let me play with.

I have an account on the (gs) GridService and a (dv) Dedicated Virtual as well, so you can see what I've got available. Neither account has much on it, so I would be more than happy to host as needed, if my resources are sufficient. |
