Looking for a midi envelope vst

Hey guys.

Well the title more or less sums it up. I'm looking for an envelope to send midi signals to my hardware. Essentially I want to replace the rather tedious process of drawing precise automations in cubase. Ideally I would like an envelope generator where I can both draw my own envelopes, and use ready-made ones like you can on massive. If it's able to loop I'd be on cloud nine

Any suggestions? I've been looking around but so far I've only really come across rather simple freeware stuff...

How about midi lfo? now that we're on the topic

Thanks in advance for your help           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com

Thesys is very interesting! I like that you instantly have a lot of control over sequencing your hardware, but I'm still on the hunt for something that will enable me to assign a specific midi cc number to the modulation matrix, giving me the option of using curves/steps/drawing to control the output.

Thesys allows you to assign a midi cc at the bottom, but only gives you the option of using steps as far as I can tell. Ideally I want curves to get those smooth rises/falls. I'm specifically trying to automate my nord lead 2x which is a great synth, but has the one let down that you can't tempo sync the lfo's. Yea you can set them to retrigger and get some interesting results, but sometimes I really want the lfo to follow my tempo! And drawing the automation in cubase is a pain in the rear, to say the least... Anyone know of a plugin that will do this?

But thanks Axis! Thesys is a welcome new entry in the arsenal Now I just need to get these renegade nord lfo's to do as I wish hehe...           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com

I've now found Leslie Sanford's LFO:

http://www.lesliesanford.com/SanfordLFO.shtml

Which works pretty well for what it is, although I would still like a plugin where I have a lot of control over envelopes, so I'd love to hear about it if anyone knows one           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com

Yes I noticed that one but I want one that works sequentially, as in several envelope curves in a row, like the envelope section on NI Massive...           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com

Thesys does that actually... the last row in the vst is a step modulation matrix for every CC number... there are actually 8 MIDI envelope slots as well so you can send multiple messages at once, such as bank/program changes, etc. which a recording midi clip would pick up.

I just found the best solution:

http://www.artificialaudio.com/pluginmenu/3

With this plugin you can freely draw your own looping envelops with ease and hook 'm up to any cc parameter you like.

"The MODULATION LINE EDITOR let's you create your own automated parameter modulations. Each MODULATION LINE can have up to 100 points.
By using the quick-access browser you can search a huge library of MODULATION LINE templates. This gives you a great starting point to create your own amazing effects."

Alright, I've had the chance to give Quartz a go, and while I like its functions a lot, I cannot seem to make it do the one thing I need, sending midi to my hardware. I'm using cubase, and I can only add Quartz as an effect, not as an instrument running on its own midi channel, which means I cannot set up midi output to my midi interfaces. Bummer! In the manual there is a work-around described for Logic on a Mac by using an AIC-bus, but I cannot seem to find an equivalent solution for cubase on windows.

Very annoying, as Quartz seemed like the answer to my needs. I've tried out stormgate as well, but I'm not too keen on it, liking quartz better. Anyone know a way for me to set it up to send midi? Or can suggest a similar vst?

Thanks for the help, I'm very much appreciating it           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com

Yes, what you need (after you've loaded in as an insert fx) to do is select the Quartz plugin as your midi input on the midi track which triggers your external gear.
But this way, you can't use your midi keyboard and use Quartz at the same time.
So I make a second empty midi track where I select Quartz as the input which then triggers my Nord.
Now you need to hit the monitor button on this track to get the signal flowing from quartz to your external hardware.

However, Stormgate3 seems to send midi data straight away, when you load it as an insert effect.

Doh! I'm such an idiot... I just assumed that since it was used as an insert on an audio track it wouldn't send midi. Thanks Djones! You're the man

Now for some enveloped-based modulation mayhem!           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com

Although here it seems, my Nord doesn't respond immediately when I draw some lines, but it does after I select any preset and then change the lines myself.
I have to figure out why it behaves like that.
