SoundToys Decapitator.
The brilliant logic Guitar Amp Pro.
An example of both Logic's native distortion plug in and Decapitator is in the track below.
The guitar is my SG pluged in straight into my Focusrite soundcard, with Guitar Amp Pro making the clean tone into a classic throaty Gibson distortion.
And Decapitator is doing the overdrive task on the 303 like synth around the 3:32 mark.
Obviously the Decapitator can go a lot more than the subtle overdrive, but for me the best distortion plugs are the ones that give a nice subtle distortion character, instead of a brute clip like fuzz, which Decapitator delivers at the push of the "punish" button.
