Love the Dunes series but I hate the books his son has done, such generic story telling.
any good series come out the last year or 2?
haven;t read sci fi in ages!

Going Under by Justina Robson (October 2008) was highly recommended to me. Harm by Brian Aldiss (mid-2007ish, I think), is one of his best books yet. Of course, if you haven't read the (somewhat Harry-Potter-in-space-ish) Ender saga by Orson Scott Card, it is quite enjoyable (at least Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow).
