It's the same way you did it on 5.5... that hasn't been changed.
- time and pitch machine...
- send to a bus...

best results for pitch shifting you get (imo) if you convert the file to an apple loop quick and just use the transpose in the region parameter box.
about time stretch, logic 8 got several modes for pitch shifting which are all kinda good for different tasks. but its not the best time stretch out there, thats right. there is also izotope radius, a time stretch algorythm for logic, but I havent got a chance to test that myself yet.
but in general, the audio side of logic, especially the audio editing, is not really good compared to the rest. somehow apple doesnt really go on that yet.
and where did you see pitch automation for audio regions?!? thats one of the things I'm really missing, and I just know of 1-2 workarounds to do it live in logic..

yes...Nuendo for working with waves is the best..is so simple to simple things...
i really like Logic Plugins..but the opnios on the audio side are a bit weak....
Pitch automacions its done very easy in nuendo...Just go to pitch shif, and or use the envolope for automaitons or the piano for the tone.

yeah I know how it works in nuendo, but it sounded like you would be talking about logic & pitch automation

1. option: put your sample in exs and automate midi pitchbend
2. option: put a vocal transformer on the track and automate it
(but my fav is option 3: use turntablist)
hope that helped

vocal transformer is just an effect and does the same.
but if you really need things like audio pitchbend and offline processing THAT bad, its another option to configure soundtrack as external sample editor and do it there.

in the garageband plugins bundled with logic 8, theres one called 'pitch'... maybe that would work, you can draw in the automation to control the pich effect. Hope that helps |

Convert the wave to AppleLoops and you have Ableton like control over the sample.
  Peace and Love, seriously! |

If you want to pitch ... use the time and pitch machine on logic audio editor.... you have different alogarythm just like in cubase it' s simple and it works. You can also do what mad Scientist propose which is convert your file to apple loop. In other word bounce and save in apple loop format... import and change pitch in the inspector.
For kick you want a pitch bend so what you really need is to load the sample onto exs24 and modulate the pitch with lfo or envellope... you can use kontakt as well or any sampler. logic studio comes with soundtrack which has all audio editing possibilities of very serious audio editor better than cubase for sure. So you can use that too. personally even when I was using cubase I would use wave lab or audition..... for many thing for once you could zoom in a lot more.
Logic plugins are great but what really is better in logic is the rooting possibilities ,the automations and the whole midi things which is miles away from cubase. So if you need more options for editing audio use logic and soundtrack you won't need anything else. |
