Hey there,

I'm not sure that it's important in relation to my query but I'm
using Logic 5.5 on a PC.

Anyway...I've got an Oxygen 8 midi controller and I've been trying to
program the knobs to control certain synth functions. I found a set of tutorials which demonstrate a very time-consuming and arduous process of setting up various transformers/gates/connections in the 'clicks and ports' window...is this the only way to accomplish this? It looks like it would take me several hours (at least) to set up my synths to be controlled by the controller...this seems ridiculous to me? Anyone here know of a simpler and faster way to do this? Is anyone aware of some program called 'fader mapper' which may or may not assist me in this?

I'm presuming that many of your here have experience with this sort
of thing.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

it kindof depends on what the output of the Oxygen is and what exactly you want to controll with it.,

can you elaborate a bit?

anyway.,
i'll asume that the oxygen is sending normal controller data.,
but since every synth uses a different set of controllers you will propably need to set up some routing for it to work.,

when i do this stuff i usually make a combo of a New->Instrument connected to a New->transformer.

I set the transformer to convert the controller data for that synths parametre.,
then i record on the channel from the New->Instrument (you can rename those)

so i dont make a whole series of these for every parameter, i just add one when i need it.,
saves a lot of work because you propably dont want every single parameter to be controlled from a midi box.,

in any case, you will need some sort of conversion if you want to be able to controll multiple synths.,

and dont forget to check for environment templates as Psyx sais.,

greets.,

There should be a midi-implementation list with the plugs u want 2 automate...if not..search the net, or record every parameter seperately (with mouse)..2 see on what cc# it's sending...i know this is the hard way...but once u have it...it'll stay there...

Good Luck...

i there .. is quiet easy to configure midi on logic via midi cont.

but it u try to control the sinth from the own logic ... u need to make a construction in the midi instrument environment !! .. the construction isbased of a few new instruments that are situated in the NEW menu in the midi instrument environment , but i cant remeber how its done .. i have done it about 1 year ago with the phatboy midi controler .. and it worked .. but ive lost the webpage that teached me how to do it .. .

about the outher vst .. almost all vst alowed to be controled via midi in logic .. chek if u'r cables are connected correctly .. and if your midi configuration is well done ... in the keyboard and on logic audio too

Well..i actually took the time 2 look for you in a manual i got online at M-AUDIO....

To assign any MIDI control value to the data slider:
1. Press the MIDI/Select button
2. Press the CCNo.key (low B)
3. Press the number keys to choose the MIDIcontroller number 4. Press the Enter key
5. Press the MIDI/Select button to finish your selection.

Why not read the manual, before u start a thread ?!?!?!?
