I've never used logic except on the PC. PC is the same as a MAC. As someone said before you can run linux with windows and macosx parrellel but I have never done either. I've tried cubase I did not stay with it for the same reason that others did not stay with logic things that were simple in FL took several steps in cubase. I am now on a temporary run of ableton and it is fine.
Spend your money on your PC. The problem is windows comes broken on install. You have to spend a couple hours configuring it for it to be stable and free of trash. No reason to buy a mac just to use logic if your already on cubase just fine. If you want to try something new go for ableton or even FL Studio. Using FL you will find that percussion patterns that used to take forever are now a few minute operation. One reason Im giving ableton a shot is you can save EVERYTHING.
Additionally, theres nothing special about mac hardware its actually now made by intel. So you buy an intel quad or you get a mac quad your still getting intel just with the mac you can only use macosx. With a stable windows pc you can run linux and then run any os you want in it. I'm not sure if you can setup linux on a mac box.
P.S. Save even more money by going AMD. This quad has been running nonstop for nearly 3 years now. I do not turn it off, it does not crash, not to say certain softwares dont crash but my pc never just crashes where I am forced to reboot.

ableton is the future now....if u fancy a non linear workflow and some out of the box approches.... and also want to get into more improvised compositions then abes is good....it is also fun as hell...
mac is allround just a nice computer with a well integrated software/hardware design and and if u appreciate nice design then it is surely worth it...its more expensive yes but the resale value is also very good when u wanna upgrade in like 2 years time

oh yeah and i cannot tell you how nice it is that ableton just keeps everything in sync no matter what! Try and change ur tempo in logic and see what happens to ur session lol...also changing pitch of audio files is a big part of of the way i work and logic sucks at that which is what made me instantly not want to use it...that and the fact that samples are linked to a single file on the hard disk and u have to seperate it and and make a new one to make changes that doesnt effect everything yadayadayada just pisses me off...i dont have to worry about any of that stuff in ableton...
all that being said...yes logics synths are really nice...sculpture, ultrabeat and that efm whatever rock...
logic color scheme i dont like...
Yidam if anyone starts getting at you about sound quality and which is program sounds better n shit....automatically dismass anything they say...

To all the people that complain about Logic's pitch shifting, you do know there is the pitch shifter 2 plug in that pitches things in real time, yes?
