Hi psyproducers... i just got an apple macbook at least! so now I'm planning on exploring the Logic realm...

I am learning the basics on my own, but would like to get any tips, tricks or any advice you experienced user want to throw at me, specially for the psy sound (stretching, pitching, wave fx, etc).

I have around 3 years working with cubase, so i guess i will have to learn how to do everything i do there now on Logic.

Thank you all!

Also, if you happen to know any special app or utility that can make my work easier or more comfortable please tell.

Time to see if all those legends about Logic Synths / soundengine are true ñ_ñ

cheers!

U can make a kick on es2 but ultrabeat is a lot more flexible. Esm and es1 are good for basslines, but make sure u check the analog sampler instruments in exs24.

have to try with ultra beat , with es1 how do you deal with the click sound in fast attack, the best way to remove it, do u cut with a lp or shelve filter maybe ,maybe using the distorion plug and use the filter that comes with it?i find it hard to get right i always end sampling esm

acidus here the reason you will never want to come back on pc and it s free hee http://www.michaelnorris.info/soundmagicspectral/index.html

if you need a voice quote , just write it in the text edit , right click to hear it, sample , done . or you could just record your voice with the built in mic

es2 you can right click on sine to change the wavforme to something else, some work really well for fm to modulate a other oscillator
sculpture i have no idea how hehe but it can make those fm sounding leads very very well

whoAA, i like these topics on loggic

es1 i found that moving slightly up the attack (1 o 2) and use the modulator on the leftside pointed on "cutoff"
is a pretty cool way to get rid of the attack popz
and it "gates" the bass too

esm at my ears sounds WAY more fat and thumping but at the same time is less controllable

es2 4 me is the best sounding sinth that comes with Logic, endless possibility i guess

good is that u have 3 possibilities to control the same parameter , es. a filter
1-cutoff
2-mod matrix with cutoff as target
3-macro section on the bottom

the phaser/dist sections sounds awesome!!dirt but sexy           http://mystic-sound.com/releases/ioon-cosmic-downtempo-9314-oclock/

agree esm sound very fat .
also in the sampler ,there is some good saw but what i noticed is that it degrade the sound , sampling a init saw of esm and using exs24 envelop and filter is not as clean as using the one in esm , you can hear some kind of "bad distortion" or dunno how to say it s something i noticed but it s still usable to make a good bassline but it s not as clean as the source

few features i use a lot that you can check :
bounce in place
flex time it can be great when used artisitcaly
print automation to clip is a other killer feature.
folders for audio clips in the arrangement view
you can add a loop to the sampler and have it sliced to midi notes at the transients

also the bin is very usefull, in cubase i was never working with the libraire but in fact i should have, it can really speed the workflow

not sure i used the right name cause mine is in french, you go in track> track automation > move visible track automation to region

you go in your midi piano roll and the hyperdraw (where you set the velocity )now you can see your automations data there, you switch between them with cmd y

other usefull things is the automation event list cmd ctrl E you can select all similar event with shift S (work on the note event list too ,E )

aciduss i advice you to not change the keyboard shortcuts and learn them, that way if you work on some others computers, you re not lost you will lalways find your shortcut even if logic is installed in a different language. maybe buy a numerical keyboard to use with the mac if you haven t you won t regret it

alos with the comand to print the automation to a region, the auomation is no more on the track it s on the region itself ,when you press L for looping a sound it will copy the autamation and every change you do to all the looped region , it work with audio region too. great for sidechaing a bassline to a kick with a gain plugin for example with the automation curve it s very flexible way more than a compressor

Hey guys designing my first kick in ultrabeat... thing is OSC seems to be running free or something causes some hits to sound stronger, read the manual on it already but couldn't find anything.

Can it be fixed or should i bounce it?

Very nice stuff posted in here thanks!
