Looks cool!
The only thing that's holding it back nowadays is the fact that it doesn't have a quick and intuitive way of non destructively transposing a sample. Does it seem like a basic thing for such a vast daw to be missing? Indeed it does.
Oh, and it can't be said enough times. Smart grid isn't, in fact, smart at all. It's just silly!
If the tendency to test out new things in iOS and later incorporating them in the profession applications later (logic, main stage and final cut, mainly), then it seems like they're going to implement some kind of "clip playing view", similar to Ableton's Session View - which is an awesome thing, I think. The functionality that's available with the drummer tracks will probably extend to other areas as well, as is already seen in current versions of Garage Band for iOS. If you manage to test it, I'm sure everyone will agree that it's quite impressive, allows for some proper cheating, but can be used very creatively in the right hands.
The redesign of the interface seems nice, but nothing to be really excited about. They know they have to adapt everything to high dpi monitors, they're the ones who jump started this revolution (after all) and it's even surprising that they're doing this just now, after selling retina computers for years. Still, it's still a good thing when a company does take the obvious steps.
Its price sort of compensates for this all, I guess, even when they're using the most expensive dongle of them all. Cheers
