Hello Isratrance.

It seems hundreds of people have this problem and neither Mac nor Logic due anything about it.

Everything sounds good until I click to fast-forward or rewind, thats when I get the (Click/Pop) sound.

I thought spending $700 on a sound card (RME babyface) would fix it. Guess it didn't

Here is the sample. Note that the popping is caused when I click with the cursor to fastforward or rewind. (Playback is normal if I don't click)

Is this normal? Would mastering fix that?

I am almost to the step of shooting myself. I will never be able to make any of my tracks public due to this issue!

Thanks in advance.

Um its just clicking with your cursor on itunes anywhere where the streaming line is (after track is been bounced)

Or in Logic where the bass and kick midi notes are.

Like i said its a known bug, some users get it, some don't.

But Apple doesn't do a damn thing about it.

@ Zabot - I switched to Ableton, same problem.

I dont get it? Everything sounds perfect until I ffw it POPs.

@ansolas - What are you trying to say? Is that normal than? Is that why mastering exists?

I dont hear that on professional releases.

-------------------------------------------------------

Could it be a secret anti-piracy script thing form Apple that affects/triggers in Logic when a certain serial number is registered?

Somebody help me please!

I think you'll probably find if you compress your sound to MP3 or AAC then this problem goes away.

It's not a problem with your production software, it's a problem with your playback software. I've noticed it in foobar2000 too--it only does it with wav and flac, not with mp3 or other compressed audio.

Oh, is the file 24-bit? It especially happens when you play back 24-bit audio.

@shiranui Thanks but I'm sorry that's not the case here. I would have found out a long time ago.

Reason I know this it's because all tracks play nice except the ones I am bouncing from Logic Pro or Ableton.

Happens if I record them with software as well like Audio Hijack.

--------------------------------------------
Now this is where it gets weird.

I downloaded a Reason 5 demo to test out this problem, and it seems perfectly fine, bounces sound perfect, no clicks or pops.

Problem is my work is done with AU plugins so Reason is a big NO NO, since it can't support vst or au plug ins lke other software.

I never ever had this issue counting from V 3,6 and up. Then again if the files play back fine i am happy. I do not think of choppy playback in fast forward mode as an error or bug in any way, simply because digital audio was never really intended to do this without any fancy tricks involved (using very small numbers of frames at a time instead of the more rough intervals that most use) (cd players make a great example here as they are sufficiently archaic)

If everything plays back fine while not ffw´ing etc. then we are dealing with something that is simply not mission critical. Logic has a way of calculating the needed ressources on the fly and jumping through an arrangement will cause it to have to re-predict what is coming next, thus you might not get sample perfect sync the moment you do stuff like this. When it comes to itunes i have no clue, i use my computer to make music, not to catalogue my virtual record collection. I will reiterate and condense a little:

If under normal circumstances, ie. just pressing play, everything sounds as it should, then i do not see the real issue.

Better to enjoy your very nice new soundcard and logic pro and get down to the task of making music.
Only mission critical things should matter.

FYI This is not something mastering can fix. What is there to fix? A mastering engineer does not bother with issues such as this at all. The focus is for NORMAL playback to translate as well as possible over a broad range of environments.           Mastering available here:

What format are you exporting in?

Um any lossless format, 16 bit 24 bit. Mp3, Aiff, just basically every format available.

Also this happens in the Logic arrange window too.

This ruins my motivation.

I've also noticed how other tracks that don't have that issue just have have a silence sound instead of a POP like mine.

Want to post some of the mp3s/wavs so we can see if we have the same problem in our music players?

Have you tested on other computers?

Good thinking Shiranui. No I haven't tried that.

Listen for any clicks or Pops when you click anywhere on that stream line. Thanks.
