it can be done in audio just as well, but make sure there's a small fade out in the kick waves, or else you get nasty clicks all over the place.
probably a good idea to automate the volume since this leads to more volume imo. in ESX24, you can choose how much (the range) velocity modulates the volume - and you just need to edit the velocity so that everything is in place. if working with audio, you'll have to automate the volume in the channel or merge the audio files of different speeds, like 1/16, 1/32, etc, together and change their gain, then merge the whole thing if you want to fade out again or...

glad you did it...
just reminded me: if you're into pitch drops (sort like the "stop" effect on a tape player), if you draw a fade in or out on some piece of audio, in the menu on the left (don't really remember the name, the one with the info and some options to the left of the screen XD) you're able to click where it says "fade in or out" and select speed in or speed out, respectively. many uses for that, one which sounds good (to my ears) is simply rendering down a piece of noise - like the typical noise rise sweep (filter noise swooooooooooooooooooshing). You can't pitch modulate that on the synthesizer, since noise is just random volume going pretty much everywhere, right? But you can make a very cool rise with this option, then render that down, then use volume fades...
