Trip! i wasn´t talking about the visible channel strip in arrange as per version 6.x and onwards. i was talking about the feature in 7 that lets you save a preset of an entire instrument or channel strips settings complete with plugs used etc.

and to darkpsy:
the delay compensation i am talking about has to do with the small delay caused by each plugin in a signal chain due to processing time. logic (since v. 4.8 or so) has a feature that compensates for these delays thus allowing for a more phase coherent production.
however logic only compensates on tracks and instrument channels no aux or bus compensation.
do any of you find that you have to delay or trim recorded files to make them fit in timing because of audio card latency? (or use dsp cards) if so it does make sense to implement it across the entire signal chain including physical inputs as eg. steinberg and motu have done in their flagship applications.

as to apple loops hmmmm whatever not really raising my eyebrows over i think.
it just seems like an enticing upgrade scheme to lure garageband owners into upgrading to logic, certainly not to cater for long time users. but lets see what happens.          Mastering available here:

....great great great....

what????

...whera is the fuckin pluggin delay compensation on the BUS and individual OUTPUTS??? eee??

...Digital performer 4.5 = no latency on the buses
...cubase sx 3 = no latency on the buses, even more, external fx procesing no latrency feature..

...aah, what can i say i need to buy this upgrade for my 6.4 pro....           "Soft as possible" - Morton Feldman

Hmmm... still missing key features such as full plugin delay compensation (for those of us who actually use external gear)

It isn't just for external gear. Actually, it is less relevant with external gear I would say. Anyway, this is quite shocking. Especialy to someone that has been using software with full automatic plugin delay compensation for arround 3 years. (Sonar)

actually, it's not possible to have full delay compensation under all circumstances., just totaly not possible.,
as soon as you start doing stuff with external gear and do complex mixes and feedback loops the whole thing falls down.,

so forget about REAL full delay compensation.,
you can only have this if the plugins take (almost) no time to calculate their stuff., the situation as it is now (on all platforms) is a compromise from the fact that computers are not dedicated music hardware.,

about difference between cubase and logic, as someone said before in this thread, 4 years ago logic was already at the same point as cubase is now when it comes to delay compensation.,.
and guess what, it worked almost from the start.,., steinberg needed several major version ups before it worked as it does now .,

so dont even try to compare the two., sorry.,
(i'm not trying to flame or troll here., it's realy a different class of tools)

i know cause i'm working with sx2 for a few months now and it has a whole range of problems that just didnt exist in logic.,., sure, the interface is snappier, but who cares.,.,

anyway, WAY TO GO EMAGIC!! .,

not possible??? do tell me why. i am most intrigued especially since sx and dp has it across the ENTIRE signal chain.
and yes i know of problems with sx and my suggestion is to get the bug fix for it they have promised. that should solve some issues at least.
oh yeah and what exactly do you mean when you say feedback loops. they have nothing to do with delay compensation whatsoever. feedbackloops are a result of either intentional or unintentional signal routing. besides all i want to be able to do is to record external gear without the hassle of trimming my files and being able to use eg. a poco or a uad card with minimum tweaking from my side. anyway since it is all code it all depends on who is writing it and not what machine it runs on. i do realise that for very complex setups that would not be feasible but i mix mainly in logic so i need it to interface with the rest of the world as seemless as possible and since i am planning on actually paying for logic i do feel i am entitled to at least this since every other app has it and the funny thing is that logic is being touted as a pro app which means it has to have pro features, not more shiny toys.

monno - I'm sure PDC will be settelted in future updates. It's been the talk of the day from all Logic users.
Besides that, you will be very happy when you buy it!           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

yeah just about everybody have been screaming about pdc so apple will have to cave in and do it soon.
let´s just hope it´s in the form of a free upgrade.
i love logic! always have and hopefully always will.
it´s expensive to first buy a mac and then buy logic so you see my expectations are quite high considering the money i´ve already given steve jobs and his buddies.
time will tell which way it goes though.           Mastering available here:
