Apple has very strict NDAs and upcoming products are always shrouded in secrecy including Logic, which is why the beta version of Logic 7 was encoded with serial numbers so if it gets leaked the betatester who leaked it will get sued. The public didn't even know what the new iMac looked like until it was released last week or so. Also Apple isn't loosing money.
I just switched to Mac and Logic last year and I am loving it, however, the PC is still used in the studio for various tasks. Such as running Wavelab, which has no equal on the Mac (which pisses me off) and running those PC only apps like Fruity Loops, z3ta+, etc. |

never change a running system, even if the advertisements look soooooooooooo good.
pcs are much faster than macs.
stay wherer you´re familiar with.
it´s all crap anyway, no matter what you use (pc or mac)
don´t waste time thinking about what you want to buy. just make soundz and fuck the industry which always attracts our attention with beautiful ads and when you finally get it, you notice thatz it isn´t as attractive and glowing as it was in your head before you bought it!!! |

a publicity stunt...
b.t.w - if you got the money - get a
protools setup... |

-Why is protools better?-
because it uses native soundcards made by protools themselves (example : digi002)which results in fewer incompatibility issues and the cards have their own DSP's which take a lot of load from your CPU (less rendering !)
and its considered as well as the easiest sequencer to use
NB: I never tried protools, but this is what i hear everywhere, if i had the cash i'd prolly be using it |

Well guys ... u got me thinking ...
Dont know about the protools thing (actually im quite open for all suggestions , aslong as i find the best thing for me ) ´
If i would stick with pc , i was looking at some Cool Pulsar soundcards , and the Tc powercore i.e to fill the studio with , so some integrated dsp products as for the protools dont appeal much to me ( i would prefer some open platforms )
Only question In mind
Is there a difference in the sound coming from Cubase , logic or protools ? And with difference i meen significant audiable differences ... ?

a good reason to change to logic is that now is being offered with allthepluging and effectts at a great price..things thats costed 2500 euros now cost 700 euros.....thats hald the money for a new mac.....and about the mac-pc thing its not about how fast you are ishow stable you are........and i assure you that you will forget what a crash is with a mac.....(of course theycrash aswell but nothing compared to pc.....my g4 has crashed 3 times in one and half year......)....

rishi , i would like to tell u tht ...
USE WHAT U ARE COMFORTABLE WITH .....
logic / nuendo / pro tools . cubase sx / nuendo all on more or less same level ...
i knw many ppl who make ultrakiller stuff with cubase and so with logic ..
so as software does matter , but more than it is the user and his experience ...
dont go and blindly buy mac and logic , coz some1 told u its nice and u will also get eskimo / g light sound ... see wat u are comfortable with and ull will learn with time as every 1 of us does !
its not the software tht making the music , its the USER ... remember ! |

i started with fruity loops wnet than to reason, from there to logic for 2 years. after all that changes @ e-magic i started now to work with nuendo, and its a lot of fun .its just a question of working comfort..
I realy love logic but the possibility of working on audio files in nuendo is the real missing in the logic 5 versions, also the render time .. nuendos sounds to me more clear.. but if logic 7 comes out for pc (dream)..mac is to expensive

DSP - Or you can just buy a better cpu and get overall better pc performance, instead of spending it on protools.
Compatibility - I'm sure I can crash protools if I want to. Just give me enough time
Ease of use - I think cubase's interface is very easy to use.
