Ok .. i know that the headlines already making some ppl sick ,,, but i have a personal angle on this one .. so please listen up

In a matter of short time , i am to build a studio , from scratch almost ...

And i have this dilemma ... I have used Cubase since the sx came .. and also tried logic .. ( 5.5 i think ??? ) ... Somehow i stuck to Cubase ... But now .. where i will build a new studio .. what is wiser to use ...?
Cubase or logic ... ?
I never had a macintosh ..and i have a great deal of knowledge in cubase ...
So this automatically meens that Logic cant be the answer ?

I was taking some lessons in mastering and mixing in a studio where they used logic ..this technician told me straight up what he thought where the differences between Logic and cubase.. and Nothing could convince me to change my cubase for logic ..
Except ...well im not quite shure what this is called ... but i know that the sound using the logic and mac setup , gave a Very tight and precise sound . He had some kind of piece of hardware that Killed All latency or delay from his hardware ..... And i could hear it with my own ears .. the sound was much more tight .. ( well ofcourse he has some Psycho monitors , but still i could compare it to my own experience with cubase ..... ) but i hope u catch what i meen ...

Should i stay with cubase .. having used this for a longer time ..?
or should i switch to Logic ..(mostly cuz my "illusion of better sound/possibility's in logic than in Cubase )But also regarding computer power ...
What i heard the new mac's give the p4 tailwind .. is this true ?

What should i focus on ..

hope that u can help me

i there my friend , its a dificult choice since u started to work properly on cubase sx ... but i can asure u that .. with logic for master piece work .. is bether in my opinion of course ..
of course that now .. if u get a studio ... bye the best u can , like macintosh stuff .. logic 6 or the almost fresh 7 ... that worth for sure !!!
and then u will need a very good sound card for 0 latency .so for the sound card i advice u DIGI stuff for protools .. digi are very expensive so .. u can get the last motu or the last pulsar , both good ones expensive but good

and one outher things u will need .. a GOOD digital mixer , with all dsp possible .. effects .. dynamics etc .. etc ... then outher pieces of hardware u will need like finalizer .. compressors etc etc ...

but resuming your question ... i think macintosh and logic audio .. u will be bether served :=) .. at least i am .. no probs .. i make my master there and no prob at all so now its your choince := ) and hear more opinions eheheh

its always good hearing lots of ideas of who uderstand outher aspects eheh

good luck rishi

boom

I'd stick with Cubase. Logic is also good, but if you are used to Cubase, there aren't any good reasons to switch to Logic i think.

And then there's the user-base. Loads of people use PC's for music-production nowadays, and this user-base is getting larger every day. More and more people are buying Cubase, because that is the "logical" choice for PC based musicproduction, so Steinberg make more money and can develop their software faster then Emagic.

But howabout the Cpu Power ....?
Isnt Macs newest pc , much more powerfull ..

But im also thinking , that , with my new studio , comes a new soundcard ..and hopefully some Dsp power .. so maybe this could make my production in cubase better ... ?            3ó BooOoM ShanKaRA 3ó

well imo...
stick to cubase.
I am logic user, but i checked the topic on cubase 3 here in isra and i have to say i was teased.
logic wont have new versions for pc never again since apple bought logic audio.
many ppl that use logic are already changing to cubase and u wanna do the oposite ::
i think u should stick to it

even if u get a mac it will be some money spent or some trouble to find lots of plugins and stuff.

BUT if u mean that u are up to invest some real deal money and u would have lots of hardware piece of equipment (synths for example), and a mac.
Maybe i would go for logic

cheers

Well, Macintosh is always bragging about the CPU power of their Motorola's, but in practice they are hardly ever that much better then PC processors. If you want power you can better spend the money on a dual processor PC then on a Mac and Logic imho.

Hi there AnalogXperience, Where did you find the news about Logic 7 becoming available to PC users ? I checked the Emagic website, but couldn't find any information about this.

it won't be on PC.
If you think about getting a mac, get Logic.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

-logic 7 .. will be to pc users to -

this makes my day
i am one of those guys who went from logic to cubase when it went mac only ; on the other hand i was very happy that i could use all the fxb (cubase only preset files)that are supplied with the fx and vsti
but then when cubase sx went ver2 all went really bad because its as buggy as win ME
so at the moment i'm sticking to SX1 and only if SX3 will be stable i will upgrade
I must say i will be tempted to use logic again but then again if i have to rewrite all my songs again to use them in logic ; I dunno ... i just got the hang of everything in cubase sx
