The thing is that it all depends on what Os u have.. since Cubase SX canīt be used in win98, tha's pretty lame.. But I has other possetive sides though.. On the other hand Logic has better Midicontrol.. so I donīt know really, Why not try demos of both, then decide which to buy?           Do not fear what you do not know

both proggies are very professional, but:

logic had some glitches with VST (not because of bad work, but because some plugs were intentionally written for cubase only)
but it is using the memory much better -> runs and responds much better.
the GUI of Logic is also something special - consistent style - u know that u are using logic.

cubase is also a very powerfull tool, but the thing is - every new version of cubase has 4-7 patch releases which try to cover the bugs. ( hope cub. sx - is not like this)
the GUI of cubase is something wishing to be better. inside the program the windows don't look alike, which makes your senses to change mode every window.
the performance - if u have a 1+GHz cpu and lots of memory - you won't feel the difference, but the fact was on my old Celeron 433Mhz + 192Mb of SDRAM i could open more audio channels with fx on logic than on cubase 5.1r1
now the new version of SX brings up something new - the VST system link - a feature allowing u to connect several cubase boxes to work on the same project, it sounds very promissing - i haven't heard testimonials about it yet.

the bottom line: go get yourself a pair of demos and see what u like better.

If u are new to making music or just not a computer geek..then gop for cubase!!!

If u as me are a computer/music freak, geek that luvs to fix and bix all kind of things in ur programs...!!
choose logic!!!

Using both is a bit of a problem I guess - getting to know each other - they are pretty different.

Cubase SX is offering new options that Logic 5.1.3 doesn't have yet...
I use Logic - and Logic 5 is one good application - but I'm really waiting for Logic 5.2 which will have new options that Cubase SX has and hasn't.

anyway - of course u should try both if you're trying to decide which one suits u - I know I tried Cubase a bit and then switched to Logic.

I don't have logic 5 so my experience is with platinum 4.7

compared to cubase yes logic is smoother & all of the above but if u use software instruments alot cubase & nuendo have the advantage of having rewire & allowing multiple channels to stream out of instruments (logic only allows 1 stereo signal-cubase & nuendo allow as many as the plugin supports - ie battery = 52 stereo outputs!!!)

for audio, nuendo is heaps better than cubase (except for SX) and maybe better than logic?

Logic wins because u can use logic & VST plugins/instuments whereas cubase/nuendo can only use VST.

I Used on Logic Audio 5.0.1...
I Say Just Logic not something else...
Logic audio Platinum 4.7 not BAD, but the Logic Audio 5 Better.
Steinberg Nuendo have a Excellent Sound Too, Choose One Of Them.

Logic is the best.
Must remaind you that logic cost like teo cubase.
Logic is much more modular then any cubase ( they start to learn that only at the sx version the equel to logic 4 )
