Okay, hi guys.. so my current project just crashed due to my mac failing completely at life.

Everytime i open the project, it crashes and saves a new file automatically a new file as projectfilename(crashed).file

and opening the crashed file? same happens..

i sent the project to my friend, he said the same happened on his mac as well.

Anyone have any advice? i even tried to shift+control - open the file, but it aint working..

almost two months down the drain? or is there something to do about this?            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

hm, IDK if it works the same as logic but in Ableton you can open a new project and drop audio/midi tracks from an old project into the new project without directly opening the old project

Is there something similar for logic?            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

i think there is a way to open a project with disabeling all the plugins but i m not really sure. maybe it could help if it s cause of a plugins. you don t have some automatic backup project files? i think every time you save it save a back up automatically.

thats what ctrl+shit does, disable the plugins, but its still crashing..

i am so angry right now, cause i was really happy about how this project turned out.. :/

and no it havent made an automatic backup since 3 weeks ago.            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

i've had the same problem with a logic project once. i solved it by creating a new project and importing everything (channels+automation+notes+sends+...) into the new project. it's acutally an easy process with logic 9.

upgrade to logic 9. seriously. with 9 you'll have your project recovered in two minutes and i have no idea if it's even possible in 8 (maybe someone who has used logic longer than i have can come to the rescue here?), but it was listed as one of the big features of 9...

in the future do a "Save As" every now and then, give each save as a different number like: songname1, songname2, songname3, etc., etc. .... next time you have a corrupted project file you will be able to go back to older number. also helps if you ever loose a preset by accident or delete some sample by accident. i do it every half an hour or so , end up with about 30 different project files for a song, all at different stages of completion , this technique has come in very helpful on many occasions.

I've had this happened to me, and I've actually lost important work... At first it sucks, but if you look at it positively you'll realize it's time to do things much better.

But if you don't want this to happen to you in the near future, keep saving the same file with different names on different folders for back up purposes.

I do this very often. Keeping only one file of that project is a big risk.

Lol yeah I just noticed that, you actually explained it better though.

That's been helping me for a while. Once you have the whole thing completely done than you can name it

"x Live"

But you will have a couple of back up files from which you can always go back to incase you modify something.

And Oni Katsi don't feel bad like I said those 2 months of work I am pretty sure you learn many things... which you can use better in your new project. Good luck.

In your project folder there is a "Project File Backups" folder. Click at the latest .lso file in there. And remember to save your lso files with updated names so you won't run to any issues like that in the future...something like trancetrack1.1....trancetrack1.2...etc.

Peace out.

If i remember right by opening logic (not the project the application) with the ALT key pressed
it will load logic whitout coreaudio, then you can save it elsewhere or save channel strips           http://mystic-sound.com/releases/ioon-cosmic-downtempo-9314-oclock/
