heyy all, today I got a pretty serious problem...when I tried to start logic (I'm using 5 on pc) the usual box appeared and at the bottom of it where usually all plugins go thru it just said "initializing event memory..." (dont know if that is normal in the beginning, just guess so) that keeps for 1-2mins and then everything is suddenly gone....the box and also the logic process in the taskmanager
I tried reinstalling already, still the same...I removed already all new progs from my comp since the last time logic worked, but still nothing
maybe anyone of you got an idea how to solve this...thanx in advance guys!

thanx for your replys guys, but I tried that already...I disabled all dx plugins in the pluginenabler, still the same...I also tried to remove all vst plugs with renaming the folder and making an empy vstplugins foler, still the same...
this "initializing event memory" comes before it starts to check all plugins
I also tried to make a system restore, made a new checkpoint before I tried to do that...but when I went to the system restore window, the only checkpoint was the one I did few secs before...this is pretty strange imo cause usually I got at least 4-5 checkpoints in the last 2 weeks!
so any more ideas mabe? I really dont want to format everything
btw, I forgot to say that the last time it was running was on thursday, no probs there...on friday I was just a bit on the net and didnt open it, the only "big" thing I did there was installing comodo firewall, but I also removed that again so I dont think it was the problem...on saturday I just did nothing and just tried to open it as usualand it got this f***** error...
please guys help me https://soundcloud.com/hazak

try find a checkpoint...
if not, you didn't change anything before logic started crashing?
what's the exact message?

tere is just the checkpoint I created myself just before I wanted to do system restore...seems to me as my comp deleted all before cause I made one myself...no chance, also not from the last months!
there is no message...start looks as usual, that startup box appears, but at the bottom where normally all the plugins go thru it just says "initializing event memory..." it keeps telling that for some time and then suddenly the window is disappeared, just like logic sometimes when it got crashed thru a conflict with a plugin...u know, jus everything is gone suddenly and you dont get a message at all, not even the windows crash message

I have no other suggestion but this: QUOTE
Quote:
| Hi guys
I've stopped counting how many times I've written these next lines, and as I saw the need to repeat myself once again today, I thought - why not just write it down here, and any time anybody needs this advice, you can just point to here. Service, eh ?!? wink
So, if your system is somehow behaving strangely (freezes, lockups, crashes, crackles, BSOD's, lost functionality that was there yesterday etc.), one or more of the following tips should be tried before you resort to drastic solutions:
1: Trash the preferences. The global preferences for logic on your system is located in a system file.
In MacOS:
For Logic 4.8: Logic Preferences
For Logic 5 & Logic 6 OS 9: Logic 5 Preferences
On macOS9, the file is stored in the Preferences folder in the System folder.
For Logic 5 & Logic 6 OS X: info.emagic.logic
On macOSX, the file is stored in /Users/username/Library/Preferences/.
In Windows:
For logic 4.8, this file is called logic32.prf
For logic 5.5, this file is called logic5.prf
On winOS, the file is stored in either C:/windows or C:/windows/system, depending on windows version.
If this file is corrupted, it can cause really strange things to happen. The way to solve this is to move the file away from it's current location. This way, when logic boots up the next time, it can't find the file and will be forced to rebuild it from scratch. The reason why you shouldn't delete it right away is that this file stores your Key Commands, and if you use anything but the default KC's you can use the old prefs file to reimport your old Key Commands (Key Commands window -> import is found in one of the menus). After having done this successfully, delete the old prefs file.
2: Trash the Autoload. The autoload is the song that loads when you boot up logic. It is located in the logic folder.
As above, if this file is corrupted, all the songs you make with that file as a starting point will be corrupted too. If you relocate the autoload, logic will start with it's default song next time you boot it up. Now you'll have to rebuild your autoload, and this isn't done automatically - you'll have to do it yourself. If your autoload features that environment that you spent 5 days putting together, this may seem as a hell of a task, but often these things can be imported from your old autoload, hopefully without reimporting the thing that corrupted the file too. Once you're content with your new autoload, delete the old one.
3 Maintain you drivers. If the driver for any of your hw is corrupted or buggy, your system will suffer. Try to reinstall the drivers for the hw that you suspect to be the one causing the problems, even if the OS system management tools report the drivers to work correctly. The system may not see eg sample rate sync errors as a malfunction ... A lot of hw manufacturers frequently update the drivers, to enhance usability and correct possible bugs. These driver updates are usually available for download from the manufacturers website. Updating a driver may be the thing that solves the bug that is currently crashing your system!
Driver handling depends largely on the OS, and sometimes also on the hw in question, so it would be pointless to tell you how to update drivers here. Check your OS and hw manuals for details on driver handling.
Phew. Hopefully, now noone will have to write this info again. Just point anybody who needs this advice to this post  |

hope something here helps ya... please backup everything you're about to delete.

like I said, I was just a bit on the net on friday and the only "big" thing I did was installing comdo frewall, nothing else...
to 1.: I'm currently searching for those files, dont know if its logic5 or logic32 with v5.01, but at least in windows and system32 folder is none of them
to 2.: do you know how that autoload file is called? I never did an autoload file myself so its always starting with an empty arrange & environment...
to 3.: I checked in the hardware manager if there is a conflict with any driver, but I dont think it has something to do with hardware or drivers...I would go most for the preferences file problem, but its not there...maybe this is cause I reinstalled logic?!
anyway, this shit is such a pain in the ass I really hope anyone ca help me to solve this without format
EDIT: no chance, those 2 files (logic5.prf & logic32.prf) are nowhere on my whole hd https://soundcloud.com/hazak

If you never saved an autoload file, then you don't have one.
"logic 5.prf" should be in c:\windows\system32
maybe it's a hidden file Im not sure. There is a space in the filename.
