Logic Audio Platinum problem with inserts (beginner question)

Well, I've been using the Cubase SX demo for a while now and thought it was time to try out Logic Audio, so I downloaded it (just to try out).

One problem, I have installed the Kontakt sampler demo and put the VST in the plug-ins folder for Logic.
But when holding down the Insert button in the Track mixer, it isn't there.

Has the problem to do with the environment window, or anything?

i don't think it has anything to do with the environment. Go to the start menu, then go to logic and choose plug-in enabler. It will tell you which plug-ins are unable and which ones are not. If Kontakt is not enabled then just click on it and enable it.

Also you7 might try to reinstall Kontakt in a diferent folder, although i am not sure it will solve your problem.

Thanks for your answers.
I checked in the plug-in enabler, but there wasn't anything at all in there. I also tried with a different VST, the exsp24 sampler, and the same happened. ???

I also wonder, when Logic is started, there are only audio and GM devices in the channel window. How do you change so that you get AudioInst instead of Piano etc?

Thanks again

I think you have logic in its original format.. basically its empty in a way and you have to sort of set it up according to your h/w s/w gear.

go to environment(normally press 9)..
just below the rectangular toolbox on left of page click and hold where it says either audio, or midi, etc ..
and go to midi inst.. in the page you should see a whole load of stuf like cha1, 2 etc.. if you dont have h/w select all and delete it

To get things like Exs24 working you have to do the following- remember in logic these are called audio instruments..
Go to environment, click hold where before you found midi inst and now select audio..

Normally you just have 4 tracks..Basically you need create more of these..Get some for normal audio tracks and some for audio inst( you also need a few returns and a master but that can be done when you get exs24 sorted)

So.. select new>audio object... then double click it.. if you look at bottom left of screen you'll see a box(parameter box I think its calld).. click and hold to right of cha.... there you'll see a list of track, input, instrument etc..nb/track is for audio tracks and instrument is for audio instruments..

If you want audio inst then select inst.. select a number(inst) for each audio object(audio inst) you create..

Then go to arrange page(click 1) and go to functions>track> create..
Click and hold on that track and go to audio>inst>1, or 2 etc... I think you should be able to open exs now

ps/plug in enabler is only for dx plug-ins not for vst

good luck..

make a socalled "autoload.lso" with your preferred configs and save it into the logic-folder.

Ok, I have deleted all the GM stuff, then created an Audio object in the Audio "window". Then I double click it and then I go to parameter box and click and hold at the right of cha, but the list is completely empty, only says "off". What might be wrong?
And also, what's h/w?

I'm very novice at Logic you see, so I really appreciate all the help. Thanks!

Maybe I didn't make it clear that it isn't a retail version I'm using, it's a crack. And you all know how these are, so maybe it's this cracked sh**t that makes it doesn't work. It's version 5.2 and it didn't included any instruments or plug-ins at all.
I also want to make clear that I'm not at all into using cracked software , this was just for a try out.

The thing is, I've used Logic Audio Platinum (real version) in my school on a mac, and thought it was such a great tool.

...it may be the crack...

cause i checked some 5.2 cracks too and they all had some instruments in it...if even these are missing the hole crack seems to be pretty shitty...

...i don t know what to do...download the demo or search 4 better cracks ( newest is 5.5 ) (...i know, the mods aren t happy if it s too much written about cracks, but i think in such cases even the manufacturers are happy that cracks exist...they probably sell a soft more...)

btw...sounds lame, but u ve realised that in 5.2 and newer the instruments are the lower, fx the upper ones ( @ inserts ) ?!

dude keep at it.. the off is normal(until you set it up properly. it once happened to me too) ... however version5 should come with exs24, and a few other native synths..

Anyway so now that you've done your stuff in the environment, go to arrange page and create a track(function>track>create).. highlight that track and click hold and select an audio instrument for that channel.. then with that channel selected go to environment and see if you can open an inst..

ps/ make sure you have activated whatever driver you want to use like asio, ps etc.(audio>drivers) and that its also shown in the parameter box

cheers

ok let's sort some things out:

EXS24 is a built in Logic sampler - there is no need to install EXSp24 which was made for other hosts.

PluginEnabler.exe is a file for enabling DirectX plugins, since u can't control their DLLs like you can with VST plugins.

if u got a VST instrument dll in the vstinstrument dir, and this is Logic 5.2, I think there is no reason for any of those not to show.

There are FX inserts, and there are Instrument inserts. If u are trying to insert a VSTi in the FX insert, u won't see it - because u don't need to see it there.

Only the AudioInst channels contain the Instrument inserts which located after the Sends inserts and above the volume meteres on each channel.

When logic recognizes a correct audio setup, it shall open 4 audio channels, 8 audio instruments and 16 midi channels for you auto. You customize everything for your own good and then save autoload.lso

I suggest using the ASIO over the PC AV, if ur card supports ASIO natively. My card supports both EASI and ASIO, I still prefer using ASIO.

Insert an audio file into the arrange just to check if sound works.

Keep the spirit.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Now it works!
I just changed the driver to PC AV, and now all built in instruments and plug-ins works just fine.
Thank you all for your support, I really appreciated it!
