I hope there is someone that can help me,i would appretiate it:)
I use Logic Audio Platinum v5.5 on a PC configuration (P4 - 2,4 Ghz, 1gb ram, SB Audigy 2 platinum sound card ), with WinXP.Very often i'm getting this
"system overload, cannot process data in real time" message, even whem im using not so many system resources (for example, only 3- 4 midi channels with VST instruments, and no effects on them). This happens most of the time, and since there is no way
(or perhaps there is, but i'm not aware of that:) thay you can render (bounce) the track into WAV ,but not playing it at the same time, i have a big problem here
So,what i'm asking is:
1) what is the best setup in the
preferences->audio drivers menu, for my configuration? What should i choose (PC AV, Wave player, Direct i/o..), and what numbers should i choose in i/o buffer size etc, to have as much memory available for Logic, and to finnaly get rid off that message?

2) Is there any way to bounce (render) track into WAV file, but in the background (not playing it while it's rendering, like in Cubase)?

That would be all.
Tnx anyway:)           Having a dream...And never waking up...

Solo the channel you want to bounce, and hit the "bnce" button on your main outputs in the audio environment. That will come up with a couple of further options for you.

If you're getting a system overload errors with your setup, I'd email eMagic Logic support and ask them what may be the go, as you seem to have considerable headroom as far as PC and RAM goes.

I use Logic Audio 6.3.1 on a G4 550 laptop with 512meg ram and don't usually run into that kind of issue, so there may be some kind of conflict on your hardware end. But I dunno.

aloah dreamweb

your pc is fast enough...

if u haven t already, install this driver
http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?skip=1

then in logic pref, chk

audio driver 1
- unchk all boxes ( if kx-driver = asio installed )
audio driver 2
- chk "asio"
- choose driver
- chk software monitoring

about the other things, here a little explanation:

Max. Scrub Speed = data reading form disk ( doubles uses more cpu, but data is cleaner )
"software monitoring" = monitoring done by logic ( otherwise soundcard if possible. --> input objects can be heard only if activated )
"larger disk buffer" = increases amout of data during one read-action --> more audiotracks but more usage of ram ( --> disk too slow )
process buffer range = the higher the more fx u can use but the worster becomes latency
asio buffer delay only good for live-acts. better use the delay in the arrangewindow.

try also to use as less audiotracks ( default 24 ) n busses as possible. ( eats cpu too )
also switch off all non-used sync functions ( best internal sync )

to your 2nd question...afaik there is no way to...

also tune your os for music, chk this n search the forum.

hope this helps

I also believe it´s the lack of asio drivers...
KX might solve it

if not - a dedicated asio soundcard will.

I have a computer almost like that - and I can play 60 platinum verbs without overloading.

You can´t offline bounce in logic for PC.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

I instaled new KX drivers, now the sound is much more clearer...I tweaked my system to perform best with audio software...
I also use the setup of LOGIC AUDIO that medirium gave me...And i still have that "System overload, the audio engine was not able to process all required data in time ( - 110011 )" message I email-ed EMagic about this...But still no answer
Anyway, big big tnx for your help! I hope i will solve this problem in the near future...
Tnx again!

Wrong:) I've formated my drive, installed only Logic at first, and some vst's, and nothing else..And this memory msg appeared:) So, its not about having too much stuff installed... Btw, you can tell me the setup on your Logic....No need to do this on the forum..USE THE PHONE!!           Having a dream...And never waking up...
