What's up everyone...I noticed that most topics are for Cubase and haven't seen any for Logic...what are the advantages of Cubase over Logic and vice-versa? Nevermind...first things first...

I guess I do need a couple of tips for production after all...you can only learn so much by yourself before you hit a wall and start getting frustated...hehe

Well, I just bought M-Audio's Ozone and set it up with Logic...when using diferent Logic VSTs (ES1, ES e, ES p, etc...), some knobs on the Ozone move certain VST functions...but how do I program an Ozone knob (1-8) to a VST function like Cutoff, Resonance, Attack, Sustain, etc?

Also, do I have to program these each time I use a diferent VST or is there a way to save the knob setting for each VST?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated...
Stay creative!

hi man..

you have to read the manual for your ozone...

you program the knobs to match the controller numbers for the synths in logic...

i have the oxygen and you can save 5 different knob 'setups' ... i have one for virus, one for pro-53 etc... you can have one for fat-eq or whatever... the ozone might have more than 5 available too...

as for working out which parameter on the logic fx/synths match which controller number i don't have logic in front of me now to know... but if all else fails you could write the automation from the synths in logic to a part in logic, convert this to midi data and open the event list to see what the midi controller numbers are for each parameter... might be easier than this but if its not then this will certainly work...

hope that helps..

i to use the oxygen, and made knob presets for my hardware synths, but after logic introduced the "brilliant" track automation, the midi control numbers keep changing... so you cant make a preset for your fav. vst's unless u use logic 4.x
...
Logic is gennerally annoying to try and lurck a midi control nr. out of... it took me quite a while to figure out how...
But it goes something like this:

Open a vst on a track.
make an empty part.
open hyperdraw (others)
(sometimes the knobs on the vst is listet by midi nr.)
Pick a random nr.
go to arrange and draw some automations in your empty part...
open thge vst, and play...
open the vst in "old" logic mode...(blue back with horizontal sliders)
Look what slider is beeing automated
count the sliders until you find the knob you wanna control.
The add the diffrence to the random midi nr. you choose.
then set your midi remote to control that nr. and then you should have full control of this one knob...
When this procedure is done it should be easy to figure out what midi nr. all the knobs have...
But as i said, next time u open ur track, the nr. will have changed.

Ringo Gringo - i have a shorter way :

Press record+pause,
turn the knob you want to control,
look on the Transport window which controller number flashes when you touch the knob.

good luck           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...
