Midi jitter on external midi, sequencing synths and drums in real time from the computer. This is a big deal to those of us who like to sequence live and mix analog for better sound quality and tight notation. Logic 8 is the winner. Logic 8 with amt8 on osx is 1ms of midi jitter! this is as tight as notator on the atari st, which to this date held the record for tight midi on a computer. now logic 8 ties this record! |

I was using the AMT 8 on Logic 5.5 on the PC and on Logic 6 on a PPC Mac and although Apple bods said midi timing was sorted, there was no noticeable improvement of using the AMT8 over a Midiman, i.e. sequencing external synths and samplers, was sloppy as it always was.

Compared to a Voyager, JP8 (the SN2 was compared to it on a future music issue), MKS-80 V4 or even a cheap sh-101/sh-09, the Novation Nova does sound thin. There is a 48 voice Supernova gathering dust in a London studio I work. |
