Has it ever happened to you?
While you were playing a liveact and your laptop crashed all of a sudden?

if you are taking a whole laptop setup, then you need a backpack. if you have a backpack you have room in it for a casefull of cds for backup. always have cds for backup...

Bring some drums and some shakers and hand them out to the people on the dancefloor!

Now you can dance instead of playing! Great!!

@ tsabeat
Do you have any experience with mac for livesets?
Well i do, and also with windows computers
Its a rocksolid system that doesnt need any cleaning up
My powerbook has been running from the start without any reinstalling or anything whatsoever

More people can back me up on this, i know sillicon sound a jaia both use macs for their livesetups
When i asked him the question: did you ever had a crash on stage? the answer was: not since i use mac.

Why do you have to be so offensive right away?

Im just giving my reaction to the thread here

Had no more than two crashes on-stage with my PC laptop in about 5 years. Before that had no problems whatsoever except for a broken monitor cable using my 40MHz 386 PC on stage in 1995.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Rebirth? On a 386? Don't make me laugh. Cubase for Windows 3... note no 'VST'; it was an all-MIDI setup. There was no audio sequencing or virtual instruments back then*. We took a whole bunch of monophonic analog synths, a couple of digital keyboards and a sampler (or two) on stage with us, alternating DAT mixes with live tracks sequenced on the PC. I swear nothing gets the blood pumping like tuning that lot up, 10 minutes before you're due on stage.

*aaaarr in the good old dayz, zee... I remember when all this was just fields, as far as you can zee...           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I will second this, ever since switching to mac Ive had no crashes but I still have my set bounced to a CD and playing as backup..
